Structure And Dynamics Of Asymmetric Interactions written by Naohito Chino and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-03 with Mathematics categories.

This book integrates the fundamentals of asymmetric multidimensional scaling, spectral graph theory, graph embedding theory, and various dynamical systems theories, that deal with the static and dynamic aspects of asymmetric phenomena. In this way, it provides a comprehensive introduction to theories and methods for analyzing phenomena observed universally in social, behavioral, economical, geographical, biological, neural, chemical reaction and other networks. The topics addressed in here include the notions of asymmetric similarity matrices, graph spectra, dimension reduction, and difference and differential equations to describe the dynamics of networks, bifurcation of vector fields, Mandelbrot sets, fractals and chaos, and Hilbert spaces. Illustrated by carefully chosen examples and supported by extensive simulation studies, the book is highly recommended to readers who seek to discover static asymmetric structures among members or nodes. It also appeals to those who want to understand the kinds of dynamics that are theoretically possible in their research domains.

Applied Multidimensional Scaling Of Asymmetric Relationships written by Akinori Okada and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-12-10 with Computers categories.

This is the first book that focusses the attention on applying asymmetric multidimensional scaling (MDS) and describes how to apply it in a practical manner. The book provides the know-how for prominent methods of asymmetric MDS: analysis of asymmetric relationships and the efficient use of programs of asymmetric MDS based on a distance model. These features will facilitate the work of researchers and enlighten students in disciplines such as statistics, psychology, sociology, education, marketing science, medicine, education, and other fields. Support is provided for practitioners in these areas who are, for instance, developing new products or services, investigating dominance relationships among brands or products, researching the use of antibiotics against resistance bacteria, and developing items for tests. This informative book demonstrates the analyses of data from diverse areas to show how asymmetric relationships are prevalent in real-world relationships and helps readers grasp the meanings and implications of those relationships. The results of the analyses illustrate the importance of analyzing asymmetric relationships that cannot be perceived by analysis using traditional methods, which ignore asymmetry in the data.

Randomization Tests written by Eugene Edgington and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-02-22 with Mathematics categories.

The number of innovative applications of randomization tests in various fields and recent developments in experimental design, significance testing, computing facilities, and randomization test algorithms have necessitated a new edition of Randomization Tests. Updated, reorganized, and revised, the text emphasizes the irrelevance and implausibility of the random sampling assumption for the typical experiment in three completely rewritten chapters. It also discusses factorial designs and interactions and combines repeated-measures and randomized block designs in one chapter. The authors focus more attention on the practicality of N-of-1 randomization tests and the availability of user-friendly software to perform them. In addition, they provide an overview of free and commercial computer programs for all of the tests presented in the book. Building on the previous editions that have served as standard textbooks for more than twenty-five years, Randomization Tests, Fourth Edition includes downloadable resources of up-to-date randomization test programs that facilitate application of the tests to experimental data. This CD-ROM enables students to work out problems that have been added to the chapters and helps professors teach the basics of randomization tests and devise tasks for assignments and examinations.

This breakthrough book is the first to examine the rotational effects in earthquakes, a revolutionary concept in seismology. Existing models do no yet explain the significant rotational and twisting motions that occur during an earthquake and cause the failure of structures. The rotation and twist effects are investigated and described, and their consequences for designing tall buildings and other important structures are presented. This book will change the way the world views earthquakes.

Moment Resistant Connections Of Steel Frames In Seismic Areas written by Federico Mazzolani and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000-04-27 with Technology & Engineering categories.

An unexpected brittle failure of connections and of members occurred during the last earthquakes of Northridge and Kobe. For this reason a heightened awareness developed in the international scientific community, particularly in the earthquake prone countries of the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe, of the urgent need to investigate this topic. The contents of this volume result from a European project dealing with the 'Reliability of moment resistant connections of steel frames in seismic areas' (RECOS), developed between 1997 and 1999 within the INCO-Copernicus joint research projects of the 4th Framework Program. The 30 month project focused on five key areas: *Analysis and syntheses of research results, including code provisos, in relation with the evidence of the Northridge and Kobe earthquakes; *Identification and evaluation through experimental means of the structural performance of beam-to-column connections under cyclic loading; *Setting up of sophisticated models for interpreting the connection response; *Numerical study on the connection influence on the seismic response of steel buildings; *Assessment of new criteria for selecting the behaviour factor for different structural schemes and definition of the corresponding range of validity in relation of the connection typologies.

High Quality And Timely Statistics written by Marco Mingione and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-10-23 with Social Science categories.

This book addresses a wide range of recent methodological aspects, applications and best practices of statistics production. It comprises a selection of peer-reviewed contributions of methodological and applied interest presented at the 4th Conference of European Statistics Stakeholders, CESS 2022, held in Rome, Italy, on October 20-21, 2022. The first part discusses statistical methods with applications to environmental risk assessment, sentinels data, surveillance systems during the Covid-19 pandemic, healthcare risk management, the analysis of regional or structural changes of scale, household distributional accounts, regional rental prices on municipalities, the network topology of the Euro area interbank market, tourism statistics and big data, statistical literacy, and Sustainable Development Goal composite indicators for EU countries. The second part focuses on statistical methodologies for complex data analysis, namely the optimal number of clusters to rank a model-based index, clustering methods for asymmetric data using spectral approaches, a family of parsimonious matrix-variate mixture models for heavy-tailed data, the importance of robust second-stage regressions for financial data, and on perturbation methods. In view of the overarching theme “The European Data Ecosystem for the Statistical Information of the Digital Age” and the importance of statistical data for monitoring the progress of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, the CESS 2022 meeting provided a forum for discussion on methodologies, results, challenges and best practices among methodologists, producers, and users of European Statistics from academia, the national statistical offices and the institutions of the European Union. Chapter Estimating regional rental prices on LAU 2 municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia is available open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License via link.springer.com.
