CMOS Telecom Data Converters compiles the latest achievements regarding the design of high-speed and high-resolution data converters in deep submicron CMOS technologies. The four types of analog-to-digital converter architectures commonly found in this arena are covered, namely sigma-delta, pipeline, folding/interpolating and flash. For all these types, latest achievements regarding the solution of critical architectural and circuital issues are presented, and illustrated through IC prototypes with measured state-of-the-art performances. Some of these prototypes are conceived to be employed at the chipset of newest generation wireline modems (ADSL and ADSL+). Others are intended for wireless transceivers. Besides analog-to-digital converters, the book also covers other functions needed for communication systems, such as digital-to-analog converters, analog filters, programmable gain amplifiers, digital filters, and line drivers.

Covering everything from signal processing algorithms to integrated circuit design, this complete guide to digital front-end is invaluable for professional engineers and researchers in the fields of signal processing, wireless communication and circuit design. Showing how theory is translated into practical technology, it covers all the relevant standards and gives readers the ideal design methodology to manage a rapidly increasing range of applications. Step-by-step information for designing practical systems is provided, with a systematic presentation of theory, principles, algorithms, standards and implementation. Design trade-offs are also included, as are practical implementation examples from real-world systems. A broad range of topics is covered, including digital pre-distortion (DPD), digital up-conversion (DUC), digital down-conversion (DDC) and DC-offset calibration. Other important areas discussed are peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction, crest factor reduction (CFR), pulse-shaping, image rejection, digital mixing, delay/gain/imbalance compensation, error correction, noise-shaping, numerical controlled oscillator (NCO) and various diversity methods.

Circuit Design for Wireless Communications: Improved Techniques for Image Rejection in Wideband Quadrature Receivers is the first book focusing on the subject of image rejection in wireless receiver design, which has never been so important as high level of integration is highly demanded in the current and next generation mobile terminals. In this book, the image rejection problems in various receiver architectures which are suitable for high level of integration, including image-reject, direct conversion and low IF architectures, are studied. The fundamental source of the limitation of the image rejection in these receivers is the imbalance between their in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) channels, which becomes more problematic when the receivers are of wideband. Besides traditional methods, this book provides novel solutions to the problem, which falls into two broad types. The first type refers to new circuits that produce less I/Q imbalance. This includeshigh performance switched-capacitor Hilbert transformers and precise quadrature sampling circuits. The second type is to compensate the I/Q imbalance, which is possibly frequency-dependent, in digital domain by calibration or signal processing techniques. Design examples have been included. Circuit Design for Wireless Communications: Improved Techniques for Image Rejection in Wideband Quadrature Receivers serves as a very useful reference for wireless design engineers who want to improve the image rejection of their wireless receivers and researchers and students who are interested in this subject.

Cmos Current Amplifiers written by Kimmo Koli and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-04-18 with Technology & Engineering categories.
CMOS Current Amplifiers: Speed versus Nonlinearity is intended as a current-amplifier cookbook containing an extensive review of different current amplifier topologies realisable with modern CMOS integration technologies. The seldom-discussed issue of high-frequency distortion performance is derived for all reviewed amplifier topologies using as simple and intuitive mathematical methods as possible. The topologies discussed are also useful as building blocks for high-performance voltage-mode amplifiers. So the reader can apply the discussed techniques to both voltage- and current-mode analogue integrated circuit design. This book contains application examples with experimental results in three different fields: instrumentation amplifiers, continuous-time analogue filters and logarithmic amplifiers.

With a focus on designing and verifying CMOS analog integrated circuits, the book reviews design techniques for mixed-signal building blocks, such as Nyquist and oversampling data converters, and circuits for signal generation, synthesis, and recovery. The text details all aspects, from specifications to the final circuit, of the design of digital-to-analog converters, analog-to-digital converters, phase-locked loops, delay-locked loops, high-speed input/output link transceivers, and class D amplifiers. Special emphasis is put on calibration methods that can be used to compensate circuit errors due to device mismatches and semiconductor process variations. Gives an overview of data converters, phase- and delay-locked loop architectures, highlighting basic operation and design trade-offs. Focus on circuit analysis methods useful to meet requirements for a high-speed and power-efficient operation. Outlines design challenges of analog integrated circuits using state-of-the-art CMOS processes. Presents design methodologies to optimize circuit performance on both transistor and architectural levels. Includes open-ended circuit design case studies.
