In the age of data science, the rapidly increasing amount of data is a major concern in numerous applications of computing operations and data storage. Duplicated data or redundant data is a main challenge in the field of data science research. Data Deduplication Approaches: Concepts, Strategies, and Challenges shows readers the various methods that can be used to eliminate multiple copies of the same files as well as duplicated segments or chunks of data within the associated files. Due to ever-increasing data duplication, its deduplication has become an especially useful field of research for storage environments, in particular persistent data storage. Data Deduplication Approaches provides readers with an overview of the concepts and background of data deduplication approaches, then proceeds to demonstrate in technical detail the strategies and challenges of real-time implementations of handling big data, data science, data backup, and recovery. The book also includes future research directions, case studies, and real-world applications of data deduplication, focusing on reduced storage, backup, recovery, and reliability. - Includes data deduplication methods for a wide variety of applications - Includes concepts and implementation strategies that will help the reader to use the suggested methods - Provides a robust set of methods that will help readers to appropriately and judiciously use the suitable methods for their applications - Focuses on reduced storage, backup, recovery, and reliability, which are the most important aspects of implementing data deduplication approaches - Includes case studies

Data Deduplication For Data Optimization For Storage And Network Systems written by Daehee Kim and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-08 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book introduces fundamentals and trade-offs of data de-duplication techniques. It describes novel emerging de-duplication techniques that remove duplicate data both in storage and network in an efficient and effective manner. It explains places where duplicate data are originated, and provides solutions that remove the duplicate data. It classifies existing de-duplication techniques depending on size of unit data to be compared, the place of de-duplication, and the time of de-duplication. Chapter 3 considers redundancies in email servers and a de-duplication technique to increase reduction performance with low overhead by switching chunk-based de-duplication and file-based de-duplication. Chapter 4 develops a de-duplication technique applied for cloud-storage service where unit data to be compared are not physical-format but logical structured-format, reducing processing time efficiently. Chapter 5 displays a network de-duplication where redundant data packets sent by clients are encoded (shrunk to small-sized payload) and decoded (restored to original size payload) in routers or switches on the way to remote servers through network. Chapter 6 introduces a mobile de-duplication technique with image (JPEG) or video (MPEG) considering performance and overhead of encryption algorithm for security on mobile device.

The explosive growth of data brings new challenges to the data storage and management in cloud environment. These data usually have to be processed in a timely fashion in the cloud. Thus any increased latency may cause a massive loss to the enterprises. Similarity detection plays a very important role in data management. Many typical algorithms such as Shingle, Smash, Traits and Traditional Sampling Algorithm (TSA) are extensively used. The Shingle, Smash and Traits algorithms read entire source file to calculate the corresponding similarity characteristic value, thus requiring lots of CPU cycles and memory space and incurring tremendous.

This book is focused predominantly on academicians, research scholars belong to science and engineering, managers, scientists, technicians, and other professionals in the field of qualitative research. This book is comprehended from different sources of research in Science and Technology. On the first occasion, the task of providing researchers with a broad view of the relationship between science and technology. The second reason for writing the book was the need to fill a gap in academics and research. While many excellent books, documents, and article exist for innovative practices, we have not found a work in which we can properly understand the content that the researcher needs to understand. So, after much deliberation, we decided to collect all quality efforts in one string. At the most basic level, this book is trying to show research scholars; what science, technology, and innovations are all about. It cannot study or gain knowledge of that part and is at a level that most researchers should find clear and understandable. Our goal was to develop content that will help researchers who are beginning to use innovative practices. We hope to meet the needs of academicians, research scholars who are being encouraged to incorporate more reading and writing in the field of science and technology. In summary, this book is targeted to the needs of individuals engaged in quality research activities in science and technology. Our goal is to present the topics of creativity and innovation to this audience in a way that enables them to incorporate new skills into their daily work. We would like to thank all the contributors who have made the production of this book so fascinating and enjoyable. Their scholarship and dedicated commitment and motivation to ‘getting it right’ are the keys to the book’s quality, and we greatly appreciate their good nature over many months in the face of our editorial demands and time limits. We are also grateful for using their texts, ideas, and critical remarks We would also like to thank Prof Dr Nilam N Ghuge, Prof Dr D Ayub Khan Dawood, Prof Dr Vilas A Pharande, all reviewers and all authors for their help in consolidating the interdisciplinary of the book. We are grateful to all the 18 institutions for their support. It will not be possible to bring out this edition.

In recent years, falsification and digital modification of video clips, images, as well as textual contents have become widespread and numerous, especially when deepfake technologies are adopted in many sources. Due to adopted deepfake techniques, a lot of content currently cannot be recognized from its original sources. As a result, the field of study previously devoted to general multimedia forensics has been revived. The Handbook of Research on Advanced Practical Approaches to Deepfake Detection and Applications discusses the recent techniques and applications of illustration, generation, and detection of deepfake content in multimedia. It introduces the techniques and gives an overview of deepfake applications, types of deepfakes, the algorithms and applications used in deepfakes, recent challenges and problems, and practical applications to identify, generate, and detect deepfakes. Covering topics such as anomaly detection, intrusion detection, and security enhancement, this major reference work is a comprehensive resource for cyber security specialists, government officials, law enforcement, business leaders, students and faculty of higher education, librarians, researchers, and academicians.
