“Data-Driven Modeling: Using MATLAB® in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering” provides a systematic account of major concepts and methodologies for data-driven models and presents a unified framework that makes the subject more accessible to and applicable for researchers and practitioners. It integrates important theories and applications of data-driven models and uses them to deal with a wide range of problems in the field of water resources and environmental engineering such as hydrological forecasting, flood analysis, water quality monitoring, regionalizing climatic data, and general function approximation. The book presents the statistical-based models including basic statistical analysis, nonparametric and logistic regression methods, time series analysis and modeling, and support vector machines. It also deals with the analysis and modeling based on artificial intelligence techniques including static and dynamic neural networks, statistical neural networks, fuzzy inference systems, and fuzzy regression. The book also discusses hybrid models as well as multi-model data fusion to wrap up the covered models and techniques. The source files of relatively simple and advanced programs demonstrating how to use the models are presented together with practical advice on how to best apply them. The programs, which have been developed using the MATLAB® unified platform, can be found on extras.springer.com. The main audience of this book includes graduate students in water resources engineering, environmental engineering, agricultural engineering, and natural resources engineering. This book may be adapted for use as a senior undergraduate and graduate textbook by focusing on selected topics. Alternatively, it may also be used as a valuable resource book for practicing engineers, consulting engineers, scientists and others involved in water resources and environmental engineering.

Data Driven Model Learning For Engineers written by Guillaume Mercère and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-08-09 with Mathematics categories.
The main goal of this comprehensive textbook is to cover the core techniques required to understand some of the basic and most popular model learning algorithms available for engineers, then illustrate their applicability directly with stationary time series. A multi-step approach is introduced for modeling time series which differs from the mainstream in the literature. Singular spectrum analysis of univariate time series, trend and seasonality modeling with least squares and residual analysis, and modeling with ARMA models are discussed in more detail. As applications of data-driven model learning become widespread in society, engineers need to understand its underlying principles, then the skills to develop and use the resulting data-driven model learning solutions. After reading this book, the users will have acquired the background, the knowledge and confidence to (i) read other model learning textbooks more easily, (ii) use linear algebra and statistics for data analysis and modeling, (iii) explore other fields of applications where model learning from data plays a central role. Thanks to numerous illustrations and simulations, this textbook will appeal to undergraduate and graduate students who need a first course in data-driven model learning. It will also be useful for practitioners, thanks to the introduction of easy-to-implement recipes dedicated to stationary time series model learning. Only a basic familiarity with advanced calculus, linear algebra and statistics is assumed, making the material accessible to students at the advanced undergraduate level.

Data Driven Modelling With Fuzzy Sets written by Said Broumi and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-17 with Computers categories.
Zadeh introduced in 1965 the theory of fuzzy sets, in which truth values are modelled by numbers in the unit interval [0, 1], for tackling mathematically the frequently appearing in everyday life partial truths. In a second stage, when membership functions were reinterpreted as possibility distributions, fuzzy sets were extensively used to embrace uncertainty modelling. Uncertainty is defined as the shortage of precise knowledge or complete information and possibility theory is devoted to the handling of incomplete information. Zadeh articulated the relationship between possibility and probability, noticing that what is probable must preliminarily be possible. Following the Zadeh’s fuzzy set, various generalizations (intuitionistic, neutrosophic, rough, soft sets, etc.) have been introduced enabling a more effective management of all types of the existing in real world uncertainty. This book presents recent theoretical advances and applications of fuzzy sets and their extensions to Science, Humanities and Education. This book: Presents a qualitative assessment of big data in the education sector using linguistic Quadri partitioned single valued neutrosophic soft sets. Showcases application of n-cylindrical fuzzy neutrosophic sets in education using neutrosophic affinity degree and neutrosophic similarity Index. Covers scientific evaluation of student academic performance using single value neutrosophic Markov chain. Illustrates multi-granulation single-valued neutrosophic probabilistic rough sets for teamwork assessment. Examines estimation of distribution algorithm based on multiple attribute group decision-making to evaluate teaching quality. It is primarily written for Senior undergraduate and graduate students and academic researchers in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, computer science and engineering.

This collection of research papers, presented at meetings organised by the Wessex Institute of Technology (WIT), concerns a variety of issues relating to the area of sustainable development. WIT has a long and very successful record of organising conferences on the topic of sustainability, which requires an interdisciplinary approach. Any sustainable solutions that are derived solely from the perspective of a single discipline may have unintended damaging consequences that create new problems. Thus effective sustainable solutions require the collaboration of scientists and engineers from various disciplines, as well as planners, architects, environmentalists, policy makers, social scientists, and economists. The contents of this book reflect that interdisciplinary approach, and include topics under the main areas of: Sustainable development and planning; Disaster management; Air pollution; Urban transport; Ecosystems and Water resources management.

River Basin Restoration And Management written by A. Ostfeld and has been published by IWA Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-02-01 with Science categories.
River Basin Restoration and Management is the result of two workshops that took place at the 4th IWA World Water Congress: The Restoration of Degraded River Basins and River Basin Management Using Machine Learning. The Restoration of Degraded River Basins set out to share experience in the institutional, policy, and public participation elements of restoration programmes, the 'soft' issues surrounding restoration of a degraded river basin and the development of the river basin plan. The resulting papers include a number of case studies from a variety of river basins in Israel, South Africa, United Kingdom, Australia and Central Europe. The River Basin Management Using Machine Learning workshop highlighted and compared the two different approaches to watershed management: the physically based modelling approach relying on the system physics versus the data driven modelling approach based on exploring the system 'data behaviour'. The workshop was motivated by the recent rapid advance in information processing systems. These have pushed the hydrological research community to explore the possibilities of using intelligent systems aimed at automatically-evolving models of natural phenomena. This is the discipline of machine learning (ML), the study of computer algorithms that improve automatically through experience.
