The Daylighting Handbook is the second volume in a series of textbooks on daylighting and other sustainable building design concepts. The first volume is organized into two parts, "Fundamentals" and "Designing with the Sun". The second volume consists of eight chapters are divided into two parts, "Daylight Simulations" and "Dynamic Facades." Chapters 9 to 12 discuss how to predict the overall amount of daylight in and around buildings at any given site using manual methods and computer simulations. Chapters 13 to 16 present an integrated design analysis framework to evaluate facades with dynamic shading and lighting systems that negotiate between occupant comfort and energy efficiency.

Daylight Design Of Buildings written by Nick Baker and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-02 with Architecture categories.
To complement the critical and objective view gleaned from the study of some sixty buildings, this design manual has been developed to provide a more synthetic approach to the principles which lie behind successful daylight design. These principles are illustrated with examples drawn from the case study buildings. The emphasis throughout has been on practical methods to improve design, rather than techniques studied for any intrinsic interest. The book provides the necessary tools to assist the designer to provide well daylit interiors, and shows that good daylight design is not a restriction on architectural expression but, on the contrary, acts as an inspiration and foundation for good architecture.

Effective Daylighting With High Performance Facades written by Kyle Konis and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-09 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The book explores advanced building-facade daylighting design practices based on diverse energy and human-factor performance metrics. It also defines effective daylighting by rethinking the simplified approach to glazing and facade systems to incorporate the local climate and the needs of building occupants as critical drivers of building performance, design solutions and technological innovation. It discusses state-of-the-art approaches in the context of simulation-based design workflows, innovative technologies and real project case studies, all targeting low and net-zero energy solutions that enhance occupant comfort. Readers benefit from a comprehensive approach that improves the feedback loop between design intent and performance in use. The book is intended for architects, lighting designers, facade engineers, manufacturers and building owners/operators, as well as advanced students.

The Green Studio Handbook remains an essential resource for design studios and professional practice. This extensive and user-friendly tool presents practical guidelines for the application of green strategies during the schematic design of buildings. Students and professionals can quickly get up to speed on system viability and sizing. Each of forty-three environmental strategies includes a brief description of principles and concepts, step-by-step guidance for integrating the strategy during the early stages of design, annotated tables and charts to assist with preliminary sizing, key issues to consider when implementing the strategy, and pointers to further resources. Ten new in-depth case studies illustrate diverse and successful green buildings integrated design projects and how the whole process comes together This third edition features updated tables and charts that will help to save energy, water, and material resources during the early stages of design. More than 500 sketches and full-color images illustrate how to successfully apply strategies. A glossary, a project index listing 105 buildings in 20 countries, updated tables and drawings, and I-P and SI units increase the usefulness of The Green Studio Handbook.

This guide shows how the concepts used in lighting design arise from the needs of the designer and the user. These concepts are shown in a practical context to enable you to develop and improve your design skills. Through examples and exercises, this book makes it easier for the student to acquire the level of understanding, knowledge and skill required for both examinations and professional training purposes. Over the past two decades there has been an increasing emphasis on the need for architects and building professionals to have a better understanding of lighting and the ability to deal with lighting matters within the context of the built environment. Lighting is no longer considered to be primarily the province of the electrical engineer. Previously a separate subject in the professional examinations, lighting is often now found in a more general area within an architecture or building course.
