Dieses letztbegründete Prinzip ist das Können, das undeterminierte posse ipsum: "Der Betrachter sieht daher in allem das Können selbst und zwar so, wie im Abbild die Wahrheit erkannt wird."

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Philosophie - Philosophie der Neuzeit (ca. 1350-1600), Note: 1,0, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (philosophische Fakultät), Veranstaltung: Cusanus - Einführung, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit soll systematisch rekonstruiert werden, wie Cusanus – ausgehend von der Washeit – den letzten Schritt zur höchsten Stufe der Betrachtung vollzieht und somit den für ihn endgültigen Gottesnamen posse ipsum findet, worin das cusanische Denken seinen Höhepunkt und Abschluss findet. Im ersten Abschnitt wird die Argumentation zu Beginn des Dialogs rekonstruiert. Im zweiten Abschnitt soll das Können-Selbst charakterisiert werden. Wenn im dritten und letzten Abschnitt noch einmal dargestellt werden soll, dass das Können-Selbst also zum einen als principium omnipotens und zum anderen als praesuppositio absoluta Ursprung und Voraussetzung ist, zeigt sich, dass das Können-Selbst unanzweifelbar ist, weshalb sich jener Einwand erledigt, der dem Können-Selbst seine Notwendigkeit abspricht, da es genügen würde, das Können als eine Art Modus zu betrachten: In bestimmen Szenarien wird bestimmtes gekonnt. Dabei soll nicht im Detail thematisiert werden, wie das Können-Selbst, das von Cusanus als jenseits aller Erkenntnisfähigkeit postuliert wird, erkannt bzw. gesehen werden kann. Die wäre ein Thema, welches seiner eigenen Arbeit bedarf.

From medieval contemplation to the early modern cosmopoetic imagination, to the invention of aesthetic experience, to nineteenth-century decadent literature, and to early-twentieth century essayistic forms of writing and film, Niklaus Largier shows that mystical practices have been reinvented across the centuries, generating a notion of possibility with unexpected critical potential. Arguing for a new understanding of mystical experience, Largier foregrounds the ways in which devotion builds on experimental practices of figuration in order to shape perception, emotions, and thoughts anew. Largier illuminates how devotional practices are invested in the creation of possibilities, and this investment has been a key element in a wide range of experimental engagements in literature and art from the seventeenth to the twentieth century, and most recently in forms of "new materialism." Read as a history of the senses and emotions, the book argues that mystical and devotional practices have long been invested in the modulating and reconfiguring of sensation, affects, and thoughts. Read as a book about practices of figuration, it questions ordinary protocols of interpretation in the humanities, and the priority given to a hermeneutic understanding of texts and cultural artifacts.

The volume focuses on the relation between Cusanus and Aristotle or the Aristotelian tradition. In recent years the attention on this topic has partially increased, but overall the scholarship results are still partial or provisional. The book thus aims at verifying more systematically how Aristotle and Aristotelianism have been received by Cusanus, in both their philosophical and theological implications, and how he approached the Aristotelian thought. In order to answer these questions, the papers are structured according to the traditional Aristotelian sciences and their reflection on Cusanus' thought. This allows to achieve some aspects of interest and originality: 1) the book provides a general, but systematic analysis of Aristotle's reception in Cusanus' thought, with some coherent results. 2) Also, it explores how a philosopher and theologian traditionally regarded as Neoplatonist approached Aristotle and his tradition (including Thomas Aquinas), what he accepted of it, what he rejected, and what he tried to overcome. 3) Finally, the volume verifies the attitude of a relevant Christian philosopher and theologian of the Humanistic age towards Aristotle.
