De manière croissante, le travail contemporain est effectué non plus dans le cadre de la relation d’emploi classique entre un salarié et un employeur, mais au sein de formes organisationnelles dérivées de l’externalisation (chaînes de valeur, entreprises réseau, gestion par projet, travail par l’intermédiaire d’une plateforme numérique), dont l’analyse requiert de prendre en compte les relations interentreprises. À partir d’études de cas réalisées surtout au Québec, mais aussi au Mexique, dans différents secteurs (production et transformation agroalimentaires, services informatiques à l’entreprise, services de taxi et services de garde à l’enfance), De l’entreprise à la configuration productive : travail, emploi, régulations examine, dans une perspective historique et comparative, le fonctionnement de ces formes organisationnelles et leurs effets sur le travail, l’emploi et l’action collective des travailleurs et travailleuses. Au-delà des résultats empiriques, l’ouvrage propose des voies de dépassement des cadres d’analyse traditionnels en sociologie du travail et en relations industrielles. D’abord, il déplace le niveau d’analyse, le faisant passer des frontières juridiques de l’entreprise aux contours sociologiques et économiques de la configuration productive, puis il remplace les concepts de rapport salarial, de subordination et de régulation salariale par les notions de rapport social de travail, de contrôle et de régulation fragmentée et régulation diversifiée.

Africa needs power—power to enhance the welfare of its people and expand its economies. But Sub-Saharan Africa’s power sector has the lowest generation capacity in the world. Two-thirds of the regional population remains without electricity and even those with access consume the least among the world’s regions. Businesses say unreliable electricity is a major hurdle. Meanwhile, vast energy resources remain untapped. One possible solution is to leverage the mining industry’s substantial need for power as an anchor for energy infrastructure development. 'The Power of the Mine: A Transformative Opportunity for Sub-Saharan Africa' is the first study to systematically analyze both the potential and the challenges of power-mining integration. The findings show that industry demand for electricity can be a game changer. Mining operations often devote a quarter or more of operating costs to electricity. This consistent, high-volume demand can spur development of national power systems, thus expanding electrification for the populace. As a result, citizens can also benefit from safe, adequate access to electricity. Countries benefit from larger exports and tax revenues, more business and job opportunities, and higher GDP. Utilities benefit from having creditworthy mining partners as a core source of revenue that attracts investment. And mines benefit from the significant cost reductions a stable power grid provides. This volume brings together a selection of contributions presented at the 15th European Symposium on Languages for Special Purposes, held at the University of Bergamo (Italy) from 29 August to 2 September 2005. As suggested by the title of this volume, the analysis of specialized discourse calls for a specialized discourse analysis.
