El presente documento es el resultado de un trabajo de varios años, que incluye por una parte, el paso del autor por el pregrado y el posgrado en la Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano, y por otra, el ejercicio profesional en los medios de comunicación y su labor docente y administrativa en la misma. Para esta introducción se ha tomado la libertad de adaptar lo escrito con sus compañeros Diego Fernando Valencia Delgado e Ingrid Paola Ovalle Leal en su tesis de grado Manos a la radio, en el 2001. Analizar el fenómeno de la radiodifusión en Colombia es indagar los sueños de muchos "radio apasionados; que en busca de unir a su comunidad, de expresar lo que sienten o de simplemente hacer que otro conozca lo desconocido, se han "montado en la titánica labor " de hacer radio, ya sea comercial, educativa, e incluso comunitaria, entre muchas otras. El ánimo de muchos colombianos para hacerse escuchar a través del medio de comunicación con más aceptación en Colombia, hace que el país sea uno de los líderes de la radio en América Latina, lo cual posiciona a Colombia como una cuna de experiencias radiales, de experimentos comunales y, sobre todo, de esperanzas y sueños convertidos en ondas hercianas que recorren el país desde la Guajira hasta el Amazonas, pasando por Nariño y Guainía. The first Pan-American Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (PCSMGE) was held in Mexico in 1959. Every 4 years since then, PCSMGE has brought together the geotechnical engineering community from all over the world to discuss the problems, solutions and future challenges facing this engineering sector. Sixty years after the first conference, the 2019 edition returns to Mexico. This book, Geotechnical Engineering in the XXI Century: Lessons learned and future challenges, presents the proceedings of the XVI Pan-American Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (XVI PCSMGE), held in Cancun, Mexico, from 17 – 20 November 2019. Of the 393 full papers submitted, 335 were accepted for publication after peer review. They are included here organized into 19 technical sessions, and cover a wide range of themes related to geotechnical engineering in the 21st century.
