The PaCT-2003 (Parallel Computing Technologies) conference was a four-day conference held in Nizhni Novgorod on September 15–19, 2003. This was the 7th international conference of the PaCT series, organized in Russia every odd year. The ?rst conference, PaCT-91, was held in Novosibirsk (Academgorodok), September 7–11, 1991. The next PaCT conferences were held in: Obninsk (near Moscow),30August–4September,1993;St.Petersburg,September12–15,1995; Yaroslavl, September 9–12, 1997; Pushkin (near St. Petersburg) September 6– 10, 1999; and Akademgorodok (Novosibirsk), September 3–7, 2001. The PaCT proceedings are published by Springer-Verlag in the LNCS series. PaCT-2003 was jointly organized by the Institute of Computational - thematics and Mathematical Geophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk) and the State University of Nizhni Novgorod. The purpose of the conference was to bring together scientists working with theory, architectures, software, hardware and solutions of large-scale problems in order to provide integrated discussions on Parallel Computing Technologies. Theconferenceattractedabout100participantsfromaroundtheworld.Authors from 23 countries submitted 78 papers. Of those submitted, 38 papers were selected for the conference as regular ones; there were also 4 invited papers. In addition, anumberofposterswerepresented.Allthepaperswereinternationally reviewed by at least three referees. As usual a demo session was organized for the participants. Many thanks to our sponsors: the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Fund for Basic Research, the Russian State Committee of Higher Education, IBM and Intel (Intel laboratory in Nizhni Novgorod) for their ?nancial support. The organizers highly appreciate the help of the Association Antenne-Provence (France).

Parallel and distributed computing are becoming increasingly important as cost-effective ways to achieve high computational performance. Symbolic computations are notable for their use of irregular data structures and hence parallel symbolic computing has its own distinctive set of technical challenges. The papers in this book are based on presentations made at a workshop at MIT in October 1992. They present results in a wide range of areas including: speculative computation, scheduling techniques, program development tools and environments, programming languages and systems, models of concurrency and distribution, parallel computer architecture, and symbolic applications.

As the computer industry moves into the 21st century, the long-running Advances in Computers is ready to tackle the challenges of the new century with insightful articles on new technology, just as it has since 1960 in chronicling the advances in computer technology from the last century. As the longest-running continuing series on computers, Advances in Computers presents those technologies that will affect the industry in the years to come. In this volume, the 53rd in the series, we present 8 relevant topics. The first three represent a common theme on distributed computing systems -using more than one processor to allow for parallel execution, and hence completion of a complex computing task in a minimal amount of time. The other 5 chapters describe other relevant advances from the late 1990s with an emphasis on software development, topics of vital importance to developers today- process improvement, measurement and legal liabilities. - Longest running series on computers - Contains eight insightful chapters on new technology - Gives comprehensive treatment of distributed systems - Shows how to evaluate measurements - Details how to evaluate software process improvement models - Examines how to expand e-commerce on the Web - Discusses legal liabilities in developing software—a must-read for developers

Programming Multicore And Many Core Computing Systems written by Sabri Pllana and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-02-06 with Computers categories.
Programming multi-core and many-core computing systems Sabri Pllana, Linnaeus University, Sweden Fatos Xhafa, Technical University of Catalonia, Spain Provides state-of-the-art methods for programming multi-core and many-core systems The book comprises a selection of twenty two chapters covering: fundamental techniques and algorithms; programming approaches; methodologies and frameworks; scheduling and management; testing and evaluation methodologies; and case studies for programming multi-core and many-core systems. Program development for multi-core processors, especially for heterogeneous multi-core processors, is significantly more complex than for single-core processors. However, programmers have been traditionally trained for the development of sequential programs, and only a small percentage of them have experience with parallel programming. In the past, only a relatively small group of programmers interested in High Performance Computing (HPC) was concerned with the parallel programming issues, but the situation has changed dramatically with the appearance of multi-core processors on commonly used computing systems. It is expected that with the pervasiveness of multi-core processors, parallel programming will become mainstream. The pervasiveness of multi-core processors affects a large spectrum of systems, from embedded and general-purpose, to high-end computing systems. This book assists programmers in mastering the efficient programming of multi-core systems, which is of paramount importance for the software-intensive industry towards a more effective product-development cycle. Key features: Lessons, challenges, and roadmaps ahead. Contains real world examples and case studies. Helps programmers in mastering the efficient programming of multi-core and many-core systems. The book serves as a reference for a larger audience of practitioners, young researchers and graduate level students. A basic level of programming knowledge is required to use this book.
