This haunting question, in all of its variations and interpretations, has echoed through the annals of time. Since the dawn of philosophy, the world's intellectual titans have grappled valiantly with this enigma, and many of them dedicated entire lifetimes to unearthing answers in religion, aesthetics, love, personal convictions, and myriad other realms, but to no avail. How has this ineluctable conundrum come to signify everything and nothing? To term it "the Holy Grail of philosophy" is almost to insultingly undersell its gravitas; the meaning of life remains maddeningly elusive, mocking our most desperate curiosities. Despite over 2,500 years of introspection, debate, and countless theories, its mysterious prize remains unclaimed. However, this tome is no mere philosophical expedition, for it is a revolution in the making: it manifests a rebellion against the two-thousand-year-old foundations of speculation and dares to shatter the orthodoxy. By venturing into the forbidden realm of a science philosophers long denied as relevant and converging the scientific method with peerless reasoning--the sort that would stupefy the most weathered thinkers--this most eminent opus heralds philosophy's renaissance, no longer as a quaint, forgotten relic of bygone eras but as a vanguard discipline poised for reawakening.

Philosophy In A Meaningless Life written by James Tartaglia and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-17 with Philosophy categories.

This book is open access and available on www.bloomsburycollections.com. It is funded by Knowledge Unlatched. Philosophy in a Meaningless Life provides an account of the nature of philosophy which is rooted in the question of the meaning of life. It makes a powerful and vivid case for believing that this question is neither obscure nor obsolete, but reflects a quintessentially human concern to which other traditional philosophical problems can be readily related; allowing them to be reconnected with natural interest, and providing a diagnosis of the typical lines of opposition across philosophy's debates. James Tartaglia looks at the various ways philosophers have tried to avoid the conclusion that life is meaningless, and in the process have distanced philosophy from the concept of transcendence. Rejecting all of this, Tartaglia embraces nihilism ('we are here with nothing to do'), and uses transcendence both to provide a new solution to the problem of consciousness, and to explain away perplexities about time and universals. He concludes that with more self-awareness, philosophy can attain higher status within a culture increasingly in need of it.

Three Philosophies Of Life written by Peter Kreeft and has been published by Ignatius Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-12-08 with Religion categories.

"I've been a philosopher for all my adult life and the three most profound books of philosophy that I have ever read are Ecclesiastes, Job, and Song of Songs." These are the opening lines of Kreeft's Three Philosophies of Life. He reflects that there are ultimately only three philosophies of life and each one is represented by one of these books of the Bible-life is vanity; life is suffering; life is love. In these three books Kreeft shows how we have Dante's great epic The Divine Comedy played out, from Hell to Purgatory to Heaven. But it is an epic played out in our hearts and lives, here and now. Just as there is movement in Dante's epic, so there is movement in these books, from Ecclesiates to Job, from Job to Song of Songs. Love is the final answer to Ecclesiastes' quest, the alternative to vanity, and the true meaning of life. Finally, Kreeft sees in these books the epitome of theological virtues of faith, hope and love and "an esstential summary of the spiritual history of the world".

God And The Meanings Of Life written by T. J. Mawson and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-10-20 with Philosophy categories.

Some philosophers have thought that life could only be meaningful if there is no God. For Sartre and Nagel, for example, a God of the traditional classical theistic sort would constrain our powers of self-creative autonomy in ways that would severely detract from the meaning of our lives, possibly even evacuate our lives of all meaning. Some philosophers, by contrast, have thought that life could only be meaningful if there is a God. God and the Meanings of Life is interested in exploring the truth in both these schools of thought, seeking to discover what God could and couldn't do to make life meaningful (as well as what he would and wouldn't do). Mawson espouses a version of the 'amalgam' or 'pluralism' thesis about the issue of life's meaning – in essence, that there are a number of different legitimate meanings of 'meaning' (and indeed 'life') in the question of life's meaning. According to Mawson, God, were he to exist, would help make life meaningful in some of these senses and hinder in some others. He argues that whilst there could be meaning in a Godless universe, there could be other sorts of meaning in a Godly one and that these would be deeper.
