[Italiano]: Prendendo come fonte di partenza la cronaca inedita di Andrea Rubino (Notitia di quanto è occorso in Napoli dal 1648 fino a tutto il 1669) e le numerose descrizioni di cerimonie e apparati decorativi in essa contenute, il volume affronta il problema del controllo dello spazio della città di Napoli negli anni successivi alla rivolta di Masaniello. Il testo analizza la “politica cerimoniale” di cinque viceré - dal conte di Oñate a Pedro Antonio de Aragón - affiancata da quella del governo municipale e del capitolo della cattedrale, e sottolinea i momenti di attrito tra i diversi cerimoniali e la realizzazione polifonica dei principali eventi festivi. Lo studio integra l’analisi di diverse fonti: le cronache, gli avvisi (in particolare quelli conservati a Roma e Modena), le polizze di pagamento degli antichi banchi napoletani, i protocolli notarili, le consulte del Consejo de Italia, i viglietti dei viceré, quadri e incisioni dell’epoca e, ovviamente, le relazioni - manoscritte e a stampa - destinate a trasmettere il discorso della festa. Queste ultime, generalmente considerate come fonte di partenza per lo studio di ogni cerimonia, risultano fortemente ridimensionate dal confronto con una documentazione di carattere meno intenzionale. Il “tributo ossequioso” delle feste diventa dunque parte integrante di una contrattatazione dell’esercizio del potere che acquista la sua visibilità all’interno dello spazio urbano, in cui non solo le grandi cerimonie scenografiche ma anche le semplici feste per le inaugurazioni delle opere pubbliche sono indicate come un’importante occasione per la rappresentazione del consenso. ./[English]: Starting from the unpublished chronicle of Andrea Rubino (Notitia di quanto è occorso in Napoli dal 1648 fino a tutto il 1669) and the numerous descriptions of ceremonies and festivals’ decorations that it describes, the present work deals with the issue of controlling Naples’ urban space in the years following the revolt of Masaniello (1647-1648). The book analyzes the "ceremonial policy" of five viceroys - from the Count of Oñate to Pedro Antonio de Aragón - flanked by that of the municipal government and the cathedral chapter, and highlights some instances of friction between the different ceremonials to show the polyphonic source of the main festive events. The study integrates the analysis of different sources: the chronicles, the gazettes (in particular those preserved in Rome and Modena), the payments of Neapolitan public banks, the notary protocols, the consultations of the Consejo de Italia, the viceroys' viglietti, paintings and engravings and, of course, the festival books - handwritten and printed - intended to convey the discourse of festival. The latter, generally considered as main sources for the study of each ceremony, are properly contextualized by comparing and contrasting them with “less biased” forms of documentation. The "obsequious tribute" offered through the festivals becomes a way for negotiating the exercise of power that acquires its visibility within the urban space, in which not only the great scenic festivals but also the simple ceremonies for the inauguration of public works were an important opportunity for representing consensus

I congressi a scadenza periodica sono il termometro per misurare lo stato di salute di una Società Scientifica; infatti il confronto sistematico della produzione scientifica è l'unico parametro che permette di accertare l'evolversi della conoscenza. L'UID, dopo alcuni anni di torpore, ha mostrato notevoli segni di vitalità nel XXXIV Convegno del 2012 svoltosi a Roma; in quella occasione, infatti, furono presentate oltre sessanta relazioni, di cui almeno un terzo di buon livello. Il XXXV Convegno, dal titolo Patrimoni e siti UNESCO. Memoria, Misura e Armonia del quale mi accingo a presentare gli Atti, ha evidenziato una crescita esponenziale dei contributi, tanto che sono pervenute circa centoventi relazioni, tra le quali solo pochissime sono state giudicate dai referee non sufficienti. Va anche precisato che i revisori hanno attribuito a molti contributi giudizi che partono dal Buono e arrivano anche a valutazioni superiori, tanto che è stato molto difficile selezionare quelli che saranno presentati direttamente dall'autore. Molte altre relazioni avrebbero meritato la comunicazione da parte dei loro estensori, ma purtroppo il poco tempo a disposizione ci ha costretti a ricorrere alla presentazione con il metodo della sintesi. Sono pertanto molto lieto di presentare gli Atti di questo convegno, dove sono riuniti tutti i testi che hanno ottenuto una valutazione positiva; tra di essi vi sono molti nomi noti, ma vi è anche un numeroso gruppo di giovani con contributi di notevole qualità, tanto che diversi di essi sono stati inseriti tra i relatori. Da quanto ho potuto osservare, il XXXV Convegno si caratterizzerà per il suo eccellente livello e di questo si deve essere orgogliosi. Durate le fasi di pubblicazione degli Atti emerge anche un altro aspetto positivo: la grande maggioranza delle relazioni impiega delle metodologie d'indagine proprie del nostro settore scientifico, ossia utilizza il Disegno e il Rilievo. Come è noto, in passato un significativo numero dei nostri docenti ricorreva all'utilizzo di metodologie proprie di altri settori scientifici, tra le quali emergeva quella della Storia dell'Architettura, con lo studio del manufatto attraverso le immagini iconografiche e l'analisi delle fonti di archivio. Ebbene, oggi tra i circa centoventi contributi pervenuti solo un modesto numero continua in questo errore. Credo pertanto che si debba sottolineare anche questo significativo passo avanti, che si riscontra sopratutto nelle relazioni dei giovani ricercatori. In conclusione di questa breve presentazione, sento il dovere di ringraziare prima di tutto l'amico Antonio Conte per aver voluto tenacemente realizzare a Matera questo convegno; un altro doveroso ringraziamento va alla nostra impareggiabile segretaria di redazione la dott.ssa Monica Filippa senza la quale non avremmo potuto presentare questi Atti. Se il convegno avrà successo, molto del merito va anche al CTS dell'UID che ci ha sostenuto con prontezza e un particolare ringraziamento va ai colleghi della Commissione per la revisione, che hanno con rapidità e capacità analizzato le risposte che provenivano dai revisori; anche a questi ultimi va il mio ringraziamento per il loro oscuro ma prezioso lavoro. Sono certo che coloro che si recheranno a Matera avranno la conferma della qualità delle relazioni del nostro Congresso UID.
