El conflictivo tema de los ricos, que tiene como llamativa contraparte a los pobres, es tan antiguo como los recuerdos y registros históricos de la humanidad. Esta realidad ha suscitado la atención de quienes se dedican a la economía, la historia, la sociología, la filosofía, la política y también de quienes se involucran con la religión en general y el cristianismo, en particular. El autor de esta obra parte del relato de Zaqueo (Lc 19,1-10), se pregunta qué entendía la gente por rico en el siglo I, y busca identificar una construcción del personaje rico en el relato evangélico. Del relato al prototipo es la fórmula que sintetiza este recorrido. El estudio socio-narrativo recorre dos caminos que constantemente se cruzan: de todo el evangelio a Zaqueo y de Zaqueo a todo el evangelio. De un foco a un mapa completo y del mapa a ese foco.

These are accompanied by three plenary papers (M. Maiden, E. Ridruejo, L. Renzi) and by two Round Table discussions on bibliographical questions. The papers offer a panorama of both novel and traditional themes of Romance linguistics and provide an important up-to-date survey of current work in the field as well as extensive bibliographical information and details of work in progress. All papers are in Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian).
