Queste e ad altre intriganti domande su come sarà lo sport nel futuro, prossimo e lontano, la fantascienza ha cercato delle adeguate risposte, fin da quando la ditta I. Asimov, M. H. Greenberg , C. G. Waugh provarono a rispondere con l’antologia Le olimpiadi della follia (The Science Fictonal Olynpics, 1984), in cui figuravano autori del calibro di Bob Shaw, Jack Vance. Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Sheckley e altri. Sport e fantascienza sono stati per molti altri editor e scrittori un argomento da sviluppare come romanzo o racconto, perché in fondo non sono poche le cose che hanno in comune. Ne parliamo nello speciale del numero 228 di Delos Science Fiction, approfittando di Andrea Pelliccia che come scrittore e come editor a quest’argomento ha dedicato alcune antologie, tra cui ricordiamo La vittoria impossibile (Delos Digital, 2018), la prima antologia di ucronia sportiva, Olimpiadi di Toronto 2112, appena edita sempre da Delos Digital, in cui undici tra i migliori scrittori italiani di fantascienza offrono la loro visione del rapporto tra sport e fantascienza. È l’argomento è anche attualissimo, vista la recente vittoria degli Europei di calcio da parte dell’Italia e delle Olimpiadi di Tokio che sono in corso proprio quando questo numero della nostra rivista di approfondimento viene pubblicata. Nella sezione rubriche, segnaliamo un articolo di Giuseppe Vatinno sul film di fantascienza Occhi dalle stelle, un film sullo stile “incontri ravvicinati” tutto italiano e una riflessione a tutto tondo di Marco Settembre su Io sono leggenda, il capolavoro di Richard Matheson. Ancora parliamo di programmi radiofonici di fantascienza nella nostra classifica e dell’uscita sul mercato anglosassone della nuova antologia del meglio della fantascienza americana a cura di Neil Clarke. Vincenzo Graziano ci introduce nel recentissimo romanzo The Calculating Stars di Mary Robinette Kowal il primo della serie di "Lady Astronaut", mentre Arturo Fabra firma l’editoriale e ci racconta della delusione per il film La guerra di domani (The Tomorrow War), diretto da Chris McKay e disponibile su Amazon Prime Video.
