Selain itu, penulisnya juga hendak menyampaikan bahwa selama ini Al Washliyah secara nasional telah banyak sekali mengadakan diskusi baik secara luring maupun secara daring, akan tetapi intisari dari diskusi yang digelar sering kali tidak terekam dengan baik terutama dalam bentuk sebuah buku. Penulis buku ini terlihat hendak mengajak pengurus Al Washliyah agar segala aktivitas akademik di lingkungan Al Washliyah harus direkam dalam bentuk tulisan demi kepentingan masa depan terutama dari segi historis. Al Washliyah sebagai organisasi Islam diresmikan di Kota Medan, 30 November 1930. Para pendiri organisasi ini adalah sejumlah pelajar agama di Maktab Islamiyah Tapanuli dan Madrasah al-Hasaniyah. Pada 20 November 1979, sebuah peristiwa besar terjadi di Kota Suci Mekkah. Sekelompok orang bersenjata pimpinan Juhaiman al-Utaibi, seorang Islamis radikal, menguasai Masjid al-Haram. Mereka memprotes maraknya korupsi di pemerintahan Arab Saudi. Gejolak politik pun meledak. Lalu, tentara Amerika dan Eropa bersatu membantu Pemerintah Saudi memulihkan situasi di tanah suci. Peristiwa itu menjadi bagian penting dari sejarah modern Kota Mekkah. Meski demikian, kebanyakan orang, terutama kaum Muslim sendiri, tak paham apa yang sejatinya terjadi saat itu. Para pengamat politik dan sejarawan menganggap kejadian itu sebagai insiden lokal semata, dan karena itu tak bersangkut-paut dengan peristiwa internasional yang belakangan merebak: terorisme. Tetapi penulis buku ini, Yaroslav Trofimov, berpendapat sebaliknya. Menurutnya, peristiwa itu merupakan akar sejarah gerakan terorisme global, terutama yang dimotori al-Qaeda.
