Doch die Solidarität in der Bevölkerung droht rasch wieder zu zerbröckeln. Da gelingt es Hackern, sich der offiziellen Medien zu bemächtigen. Mit krassen Bildern von den Folgen des allgemeinen Konsumverhaltens für Natur, Tier und Mensch drangsalieren sie das empörte Publikum. Doch die Konsumwelle geht weiter. Erst als eine unbekannte Kraft übers Internet den Widerstand koordiniert und in eine weise Richtung lenkt, nehmen Politik und Gesellschaft eine neue Haltung ein. 2093: Der Biologieprofessor Tim Laven blickt auf eine Epoche zurück, in der die Natur wieder angefangen hat zu regenerieren. Die Gesellschaft existiert mit weniger Luxus und Komfort als damals, aber naturverbundener und glücklicher. Das Internet, hilfreich bei der Organisation nach dem Schlachthofaufstand, hat seine Herrschaft über die Gehirne abgegeben. Der Mensch definiert Fortschritt nicht mehr über Technik und Industrie.
