Gut gebaut, dunkle Haare, ein hübsches Gesicht, er ist einfach perfekt. Doch später gerät sie mit ihm in einen Konflikt. Er ist Monsterjäger und sie hasst es, denn im Gegensatz zu ihm, liebt sie die Tiere... 3 Jahre später: Ein schwarzer Drache stürmt vom Himmel und landet mitten im Dorf. Aber er ist nicht alleine. Jemand reitet auf ihm. Es ist nicht irgendwer, sondern Rey`s Onkel, Cohan. In Rey brodeln Wut und Angst, denn dieser Mann war es, der sein Leben zerstörte, als Rey noch ein kleiner Junge war... 17 Jahre später: Die Zweibeiner erfahren, wie es ist, wenn die eigenen Waffen gegen sie gerichtet werden. Das Dorf liegt bald in Trümmern. Rey`s Sohn Tonyo ist einer der Überlebenden, doch ihre Gegner sind ihnen dicht auf den Fersen. Das kleine Vogelmädchen Ria lernt diejenigen kennen, welche die Geflohenen verfolgen. Deren Anführer will etwas von Tonyo wiederhaben, das ihm gehört. Je länger Ria ihn beobachtet, desto mysteriöser wird dieser Mann. Er ist nicht normal. Sie findet währenddessen heraus, dass etwas weitaus Gefährlicheres hinter den Überlebenden her ist. Ein Wesen mit unheimlicher Kraft... Es war einmal ein Comic. Das war 2012. In der neunten Klasse entschied ich mich, daraus ein Buch zu machen. Das Nachwort ist eine halbe Biografie. Ich zeige etliche uralte Zeichnungen sowie Ausschnitte des Comics. Es ist interessant, wie aus den Comicfiguren langsam "echte Menschen" wurden. Ich musste meine liebsten Charaktere neu auf Papier bringen, 18 Porträts sind entstanden sowie eine realistische Skulptur des Antagonisten. Alles zu finden auf den letzten Seiten. Ich rede außerdem darüber, wie ich die Entscheidung traf, ein Buch zu schreiben und wo ich meine Inspirationen fand. Wie in allen meinen älteren Büchern habe ich auch dieses Werk beim Lesen kommentiert und schrieb, wie ich es fand oder was mir sonst so auffiel... Das Nachwort ist über 80 Seiten lang. 2015 geschrieben, 2017 gekürzt und 2023 wieder gelesen und verbessert. Jetzt ist es endlich zeigbar, nach so langer Zeit... mein Erstgeborenes...
