In dieser Arbeit werden daher auch die Kompetenzen, die Führungskräfte und Mitarbeiter in einer fremden Kultur benötigen, aufgezeigt. Zu Beginn werden die kulturellen Unterschiede allgemein und speziell in China anhand von den Kulturdimensionen von Hofstede erläutert. Darauf hin werden die internationalen Kompetenzen sowie die internationale Kompetenzentwicklung bei BMW dargestellt. Anschließend wird der Einfluss von Kultur auf das Führungskräfteverhalten und auf die Arbeitsweise in China beschrieben. Hierzu werden die ökonomischen und politischen Rahmenbedingungen, der Einfluss des Konfuzianismus und das Führungs- und Entscheidungsverhalten in China elaboriert.

Es werden Führungsstile aus der westlichen und östlichen Welt vorgestellt, welche ergänzt werden durch die Führungsdimensionen der GLOBE Studie. Des Weiteren wird auf die wünschenswerten Kulturdimensionen nach der GLOBE Studie eingegangen. Anschließend werden das Confucian Asia Cluster, vertreten durch China und das Germanic Europe Cluster, repräsentiert durch Deutschland vorgestellt. Dabei wird beleuchtet, anhand von ausgewählten Kulturdimensionen, ob diese Einfluss auf spezielle Führungsstile haben könnten, unter Einbezug der speziellen Eigenheiten Chinas und Deutschlands. Es werden mögliche Szenarien in China, zu den Kombinationen Humanorientierung und partizipativem Führungsstil, Machtungleichheit und paternalistischem Stil und in Deutschland Leistungsorientierung und partizipativer Stil sowie Unsicherheitsvermeidung und defensiver Stil (Self Protective) durchgespielt. Methode: Es wurden mögliche Verhaltensweisen der Führenden und der Gesellschaft allgemein betrachtet und anhand der gesellschaftlichen Eigenheiten auf China und Deutschland umgelegt, um so durch die auf aktuellen Informationen beruhende Auswertung, einen Kultureinfluss auf Führungsstile darzustellen. Ergebnisse: Zu den Resultaten dieser Szenarien ist zu sagen, dass die Kombinationen in China und Deutschland zu unterschiedlichen Ergebnissen führen, durch Ihre länderspezifischen Eigenheiten. Ein abschließender Blick wird auf die mögliche Zukunft gewährt.
