Nach einem geschichtlichen Streifzug und der Auseinandersetzung mit den wichtigsten gegenwärtigen philosophischen Positionen in der Tierethik wird auf die Haus- und Nutztierhaltung und die Jagd eingegangen. Auch theologische Aspekte wie der biblische Herrschaftsauftrag an den Menschen oder das Schicksal der Tiere nach dem Tod werden behandelt.
