Christiane Bohm untersucht in dieser Studie den Umgang mit den Psalmen in der Gemeinschaft von Qumran, bei Philo von Alexandrien und bei Paulus. 11QPsa, der Allegorische Kommentar Philos und die paulinischen Briefe bilden paradigmatische Textkorpora, die unterschiedliche Stromungen im antiken Judentum reprasentieren und jeweils ein spezifisches Verstandnis der Psalmen zu erkennen geben. Die Interpretation der Psalmen in Qumran, bei Philo und Paulus spiegelt einen innerjudischen Diskurs uber ihre wirklichkeitserschliessende und identitatsstiftende Funktion im Deutehorizont gruppenspezifischer Glaubenswelten. Alle drei untersuchten Textkorpora lassen eine unterschiedliche Sicht auf die Psalmen erkennen. Zudem wird ersichtlich, wie das, dem Psalter innewohnende, Sinnpotential jeweils voll ausgeschopft wird.

This volume is concerned with the great Psalms Scroll from cave 11 at Qumran as an example for the reception ("Fortschreibung") of biblical texts and books in early judaism. After methodological considerations the scroll is examined and reconstructed entirely in its material and textual extent for the first time. Detailed analyses of the text and the structure of this work show that 11QPsa developed from the final redaction of the biblical book of Psalms. In its unique text form and arrangement of Psalms it was composed in a qumranic milieu and functions as a work for a davidic figure.

Judith Krawelitzki zeigt in dieser Studie, dass die explizite Rede von Gottes Macht im Psalter nicht nur ihren Schwerpunkt, sondern auch ihren Ursprung hat. This award-winning study characterizes Psalm 2 as a messianic-theocratic psalm. Early Jewish literature emphasises the eschatological and sapiential applications of the psalm more than the messianic interpretation. However, surprisingly, we come across the same text combinations that later emerge in New Testament literature: Christian scholarship obviously stood in a long tradition. It is shown how the relevant New Testament texts focus on the messianic interpretation of Psalm 2, especially of the words: "You are my Son". In the post-Easter confusion it functions as an argument to show that the crucified Jesus nevertheless was the Son of God. Luke apologetically explains how in this psalm the Messiah, identified earlier as the despised king, is also called "My Son" by God himself. Mark elaborates this idea for catechetical purposes: Jesus already was the Son of God at the time of his baptism and transfiguration. Finally, Hebrews uses Ps.2 to prove the pre-existence of Jesus. Thus, this volume forms a welcome addition to the existing literature on this topic.
