From our daily practice as scholars, consultants and entrepreneurs we know how critical it is to make the right decisions that can shape the future of a company. One of the earliest of such decisions is surely the selection of the appropriate legal form as it is hardly reversible and has major implications on the running business. Accordingly, we can nd a wealth of information about the pros and cons of speci c legal forms. However, so far there is only scarce information available once you decide to enter a foreign market. There are offerings, e.g. from the Chambers of Commerce and you can search the Internet. When information is provided in the local language, comprehension becomes dif cult. Furthermore, the material that is available today only seldom allows for a structured analysis and comparison of legal forms in different countries. From discussions with entrepreneurs we know that this situation has not only been cumbersome for us, but actually everybody who is thinking about starting up a business or widening the operations across country borders is faced with the complex task of deciding on a legal form.

De Gruyter Studies in Innovation and Entrepreneurship edited by Professor John Bessant, Exeter University De Gruyter Studies in Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a new, original and timely series of monographs that explores the relationship between the two fields of study. It will serve to improve our understanding of the relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship in a range of different contexts from start-up high tech firm through to large corporation trying to reinvent itself, and across to the public and not-for-profit sectors where the concern is with creating social value. Titles in this series will communicate key research findings and offer new perspectives to aid our understanding of the dynamic nature of the relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship. The primary audience for these titles will be academic researchers in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship incorporating academics from a wide range of disciplines including: business, management, economics, sociology, psychology, healthcare and technology. We are looking for interesting and innovative proposals for projects; these might include:  Individual research monographs which allow ideas arising from projects to be developed at greater length than might be possible in journal articles. Books which draw together the findings from a larger-scale research programme involving multiple contributors from different organizations and institutions. Such programmes might focus on particular 'grand challenges' and offer a number of perspectives on a common topical theme - for example, the role of technology in healthcare or approaches to innovation in mature industries like automobiles. Contributions which focus different perspectives on innovation and entrepreneurship, for example exploring key issues from the standpoint of economists, sociologists, psychologists, business researchers, technologists and beyond. Series Editor: If you are interested in submitting a proposal or have any questions, please contact the Series Editor: Professor John Bessant, Exeter Business School, UK Email: [email protected]
