Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2000 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Public Relations, Werbung, Marketing, Social Media, Note: 1,0, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (Institut für Publizistik), Veranstaltung: Seminar: Politische PR und politischer Journalismus, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Vor einiger Zeit diskutierten namhafte Kommunikationswissenschaftler auf einer Veranstaltung in London neueste Entwicklungen auf dem Gebiet der politischen Kommunikation. Dabei konstatierten Jay Blumler und Dennis Kavanagh „A Third Age of Political Communication“. Ihr Fokus lag dabei auf dem angloamerikanischen Raum. Im Rahmen dieser Hausarbeit wird untersucht, ob die Befunde von Blumler und Kavanagh sich auch auf Deutschland übertragen lassen. Dazu werden die Charakteristika des „Third Age of Political Communication“ im ersten Teil der Arbeit zusammengefasst und im Anschluss auf ihre Tragfähigkeit im Hinblick auf die politische Kommunikation in Deutschland analysiert. Da der Rahmen einer Hausarbeit durch eine erschöpfende empirische Untersuchung gesprengt würde, beschränkt sich der Autor auf eine Darstellung und Analyse der politischen Kommunikation im Umfeld der Bundestagswahl 1998. Diese Wahl und der vorhergehende Wahlkampf wurden von Journalisten als eine Zäsur in der politischen Kommunikation - verstanden als Wahlkampfkommunikation - angesehen. Politikwissenschaftler und Kommunikationswissenschaftler bemühen sich allerdings um eine differenziertere Sicht, wobei eine generelle Übereinstimmung dahingehend festgestellt werden kann, dass das Fernsehen Wahlen entscheiden kann, und Wahlkämpfe mediengerechte Inszenierungen von politischen Ereignissen sind. Aber ist der Vergleich hiesiger Wahlkämpfe mit den Spektakeln in den USA nicht bereits alltäglich geworden? Und waren die Entwicklungen im letzten Wahlkampf wirklich so spektakulär? Es wird also in dieser Hausarbeit auch darum gehen zu klären, welche neuen Entwicklungen den Wahlkampf 1998 geprägt haben. Bereits heute ist absehbar, dass auch der Wahlkampf 2002 die Trends der letzten Wahlen, die unter dem Schlagwort der Amerikanisierung – oder besser Mediatisierung - zusammengefasst werden, weiter fortschreiben wird. Denn das Niveau des Wahlkampfes 1998 zu unterschreiten, kann sich keine Partei leisten.

The Republic of Turkey has long aspired to join Europe both politically and culturally. However, its attempts to do so have been met with scepticism, and there is no unequivocal answer to the question of whether or not Turkey is accepted and viewed as European. This question is of particular interest in the case of Germany, the engine of the European Union’s economy which is not only home to millions of Turkish immigrants, but also has a history of cooperation with Turkey unique among European countries. With its analysis of West German prestige newspapers printed between 1950 and 1975, this study looks into how Germans viewed Turkey from a cultural and political perspective during a critical period of Turkish integration with the West and Europe, and compares this with perceptions of Greece, whose path to Europe was far less problematic by virtue of its classical legacy and Christian heritage.
