La piel arquitectónica ¿puede tener vida propia? ¿Cómo ha cambiado el rostro de nuestros edificios y de nuestras ciudades en los últimos años? ¿Cuáles son las principales causas de las transformaciones que afectan a los límites? La autora nos propone una lectura de la fachada como máscara de la arquitectura, filtro en el que se registran los devenires naturales y los cambios impuestos por la evolución tecnológica, el consumo y la moda. Un recorrido que nos conduce desde la máscara primitiva a la máscara electrónica, entendida como interfaz entre el cuerpo y el paisaje natural y urbano. A través de la interfaz, elemento autónomo desde el punto de vista figurativo, estructural y comunicativo, la arquitectura revela por un lado la crisis del significado que afecta a todas las esferas de nuestra existencia y, por otro, la aspiración a realizar edificios cada vez más ligados a la sensibilidad del cuerpo propio. La fachada-interfaz puede plasmarse en múltiples apariencias y ser finalmente al mismo tiempo una piel activa, interactiva y sensible. De esta forma nos encontramos frente a un dúplice proceso que prefigura tanto la anulación de la fachada, en su acepción tradicional de rostro representativo y privilegiado, como un nuevo fachadismo alejado de la frontalidad renacentista a favor del gesto, la flexibilidad y la transparencia de un velo que vela y revela las múltiples contradicciones de nuestro tiempo.

The present volume is centered on the notional domain of additivity. Many linguistic phenomena are based on additivity (i.e. are incremental) and additive relations are a mechanism that underlies a wide array of text types. Specifically, the present volume is centered on the class of function words which have been labeled, among many others, Additive Focusing Modifiers (FMs). The chapters gathered in this volume deal with the syntactic, prosodic and pragmatic properties of Additive FMs and new lines of research on these items are pursued, including (i) the historical development of Additive FMs and the use of these forms in older stages of the European languages; (ii) the pragmatic and sociolinguistic properties of Additive FMs, in particular of the functions they play in discourse and their distribution in different language varieties; (iii) the processing of Additive FMs by adults, in particular by relying on reading experiments involving eye tracking and self-paced reading; (iv) the use of Additive FMs in language contact situations and (v) the acquisition of Additive FMs by different learner groups.
