Continuación de su primera selección de escritos, el material reunido en este libro corresponde a las convicciones del rector de la Universidad Católica de Chile, Ignacio Sánchez Díaz, expuestas en columnas y cartas publicadas en periódicos y revistas, así como en documentos y correos electrónicos internos de su segundo período (2015-2020) al mando de esta casa de estudios. Este es su testimonio como actor relevante de la poliédrica realidad de la educación en Chile. Aquí se encontrará una visión que, reconociendo la urgencia del acontecer y los movimientos cambiantes de las opiniones del día, se nutre de lo que siempre permanece fiel a sí mismo. A los temas dominantes del primer ciclo, se suman en la presente entrega asuntos que han marcado las circunstancias vividas por la comunidad académica, tales como la emergencia de las reivindicaciones feministas, la crisis de la Iglesia y la sustentabilidad. The discipline of geography has undergone much change and growth in recent years. With growth has come diversity. Before 1945 there were differences between countries in the emphases on subject matter and research approach, although these were all related closely to three main ‘models’ – French, German and American. Since then, the relative importance of French and German influences has declined substantially, including within their own national territories, and the Anglo-American model has grown to world dominance. With that model, however, there is no dominant point of view but rather a multiplicity of competing approaches. These various approaches have had a different reception in other parts of the world, reflecting the base of pre-1945 geographical scholarship, the goals of geographical work set by soceities and the nature of the international contacts. Con este mismo título, en diciembre de 2021, apareció el primer volumen de este trabajo. La intención fue sistematizar algunos proyectos de vinculación que habían logrado impactos sociales en términos cualitativos y de innovación educativa. En esa oportunidad se presentó una obra con diez capítulos de reflexión, sistematización, análisis y descripción de la trascendental importancia que implica, para la UPS, la vinculación con la sociedad. Ahora, al cumplir la UPS 28 años de vida institucional, presentamos este segundo volumen, que recoge en 14 capítulos el trabajo de 3 docentes, administrativos, estudiantes e investigadores invitados de distintos campos científicos. Es la continuación de la sistematización de los proyectos de vinculación emblemáticos que se han desarrollado en las sedes de Cuenca, Quito y Guayaquil de la universidad. EN cada uno de ellos se podrá encontrar el esfuerzo que la UPS ha desarrollado en estos 28 años, desde su fundación, para conseguir transformaciones sociales.
