Few things are as certain as societal changes—and the pressing need for educators to prepare students with the knowledge and ways of thinking necessary for the challenges in a changing world. In the forward-thinking pages of Designs for Learning Environments of the Future, international teams of researchers present emerging developments and findings in learning sciences and technologies at the infrastructure, curricular, and classroom levels. Focusing on ideas about designing innovative environments for learning in areas such as biology, engineering, genetics, mathematics, and computer science, the book surveys a range of learning technologies being explored around the world—a spectrum as diverse as digital media, computer modeling, and 3D virtual worlds—and addresses challenges arising from their design and use. The editors’ holistic perspective frames these innovations as not only discrete technologies but as flexible learning environments that foster student engagement, participation, and collaboration. Contributors describe possibilities for teaching and learning in these and other cutting-edge areas: Working with hypermodels and model-based reasoning Using visual representations in teaching abstract concepts Designing strategies for learning in virtual worlds Supporting net-based collaborative teams Integrating innovative learning technologies into schools Developing personal learning communities Designs for Learning Environments of the Future will enhance the work of a wide range of professionals, including researchers and graduate students in the learning and cognitive sciences, and educators in the physical and social sciences.

The Future Of Learning Design written by Shirley Agostinho and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-13 with Education categories.

Learning Design refers to research and development work that equips teachers with tools and strategies to aid their design thinking. Its origin stems from two lines of inquiry: (i) how to represent teaching practice from a technical perspective in the development and delivery of online learning environments; and (ii) how to represent teaching practice in an appropriate form to enable teachers to share ideas about innovative online pedagogy and think about the process of design. The underlying premise of learning design is that, if effective, teaching and learning practice can be represented in a systematic way, thus supporting the process of reuse, which could ultimately lead to improved practice. A large international body of work has produced specifications of technical standards to support the delivery of online learning, different learning design representations to disseminate ‘best practice’ examples to support and encourage adaptation, and software tools and strategies to support the design process. This book presents a view of current thinking about learning design and provides insight into the future direction of this field of research and development. It is a timely contribution that will stimulate discussion about these issues and guide and advance the learning design field. This book was originally published as a special issue of Learning, Media and Technology.

This special edition of the Educational Communications and Technology Yearbook Series bears a title of “Learning Environment and Design: Current and Future Impact”. It provides a timely forum to share theoretical and practical insights in both the local and international contexts in response to the fact that new media and technologies have infiltrated and shaped the learning environments from mere physical spaces into multifaceted possibilities, impacting the ways individuals teach and learn. Designs of learning environments to harness technologies appropriately to engage learners better, as well as the roles of learners and educators play in this changing learning environment, are examples of important global issues in the discourse of the contemporary educational developments. Having gathered a diverse collection of research papers written by scholars and practitioners in the fields of education, communication and humanities across Asia, Australasia, Europe and the United States, this book gives readers a cross-cultural background on the developments of technological designs and educational practices, investigating areas in redefining of quality education; online learning and blended learning; new media in education; gamification, AI, and innovative learning technologies. Aimed to catalyze knowledge exchanges and provide fresh views on interdisciplinary research, the book sheds light on how emerging technologies can be adapted in the fields of education and communication, so as to facilitate the current and future designs of learning environments to improve learners’ performances.

This book charts the impact of design on education, specifically focusing on how design can shape the spaces and tools for learning. This edited collection brings together the work of designers, architects, engineers, professionals, educators, and researchers, and presents a series of case studies and research developed from across Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Australia, and Asia. The book provides the tools to develop innovative approaches to design for education, and illustrates the conversation and action required to foster socially responsible design for education. As the contributions show, we must look at education as an input and output of a complex system, and we need to adopt an interdisciplinary multiple stakeholder approach, bringing together experts from a range of different fields and backgrounds as a cohesive strategy to improve future learning and teaching environments. Providing guidance and a theoretical framework for designing spaces and tools for learning, this book will be a useful resource for design and architecture students, as well as practitioners, educational researchers, educational practitioners, policymakers, and behaviour and built environment researchers.

Seven Radical Ideas For The Future Of Higher Education written by Claire Macken and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-07 with Education categories.

This book focuses on the disruption of the tertiary higher education system as a result of societal changes occasioned by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and hastened by COVID-19. It takes the view that higher education is on an inevitable trajectory of disruption as a result of globalisation, technological disruption, and disaggregation of the formal education sector but that it must not lose sight of its central role in equipping current and future students for the new economy. The book takes a student-centric - and big-picture approach - examining some of the biggest challenges facing massified higher education systems. The authors consider ways to achieve modern, responsive and efficient higher education systems globally that are economically sound for governments and affordable for individuals.
