She spent months as a captive…until they set her free. Talya is smart and stubborn…and that’s why she’s spent two months as a prisoner to the mafia. They’ll let her go if she gives them what they want, but Talya would rather die than risk dangerous biochemical information falling into the wrong hands. And she probably will die–after all no one is coming to save her. When the mafia decides to sell her, she assumes a bad situation is only going to get worse. Until she meets her new “master”…and it turns out the auction is the rescue she never dared hope for. Billionaire Henri buys her to save her. It wasn’t the most traditional rescue, but now that she’s in his home, he will do anything to help her. Milo is haunted by the fact that he saw her in chains…and had to leave her as a captive. Now that she’s safe with Henri, he should leave…but he doesn’t want to. Because he’s drawn to Talya and Henri. The betrayal of a friend strikes hard because the mafia isn’t finished with Talya. Desire's Addiction is a threesome romantic suspense. It can be read as a standalone or enjoyed as part of the ongoing Trinity Masters series. Trigger Warning: dubious consent and elements of human trafficking.

Desire written by Susan Cheever and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-10-06 with Psychology categories.

We've all felt the giddy flutter of excitement when our new lover walks into the room. Waited by the phone, changed our plans...But are we in love, or is there something darker at work? In Desire: Where Sex Meets Addiction, Susan Cheever explores the shifting boundaries between the feelings of passion and addiction, desire and need, and she raises provocative and important questions about who we love and why. Elegantly written and thoughtfully composed, Cheever's book combines unsparing and intimate memoir, interviews and stories, hard science and psychology to explore the difference between falling in love and falling prey to an addiction. Part one defines what addiction is and how it works -- the obsession, the betrayals, the broken promises to oneself and others. Part two explores the possible causes of addiction -- is it nature or nurture, a permanent condition or a temporary derangement? Part three considers what we can do about it, including a provocative suggestion about how we describe and treat addiction, and a look at the importance of community and storytelling. In the end, there are no easy answers. "A straight look about some crooked feelings," Desire shows us the difference between the addiction that cripples our emotions, and healthy, empowering love that enhances our lives.

The Biology Of Desire written by Marc Lewis and has been published by PublicAffairs this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-07-14 with Psychology categories.

Through the vivid, true stories of five people who journeyed into and out of addiction, a renowned neuroscientist explains why the "disease model" of addiction is wrong and illuminates the path to recovery. The psychiatric establishment and rehab industry in the Western world have branded addiction a brain disease. But in The Biology of Desire, cognitive neuroscientist and former addict Marc Lewis makes a convincing case that addiction is not a disease, and shows why the disease model has become an obstacle to healing. Lewis reveals addiction as an unintended consequence of the brain doing what it's supposed to do-seek pleasure and relief-in a world that's not cooperating. As a result, most treatment based on the disease model fails. Lewis shows how treatment can be retooled to achieve lasting recovery. This is enlightening and optimistic reading for anyone who has wrestled with addiction either personally or professionally.

The Erotic Screen written by Thomas Wolman and has been published by Phoenix Publishing House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-28 with Performing Arts categories.

The Erotic Screen takes as its starting point that Hollywood movies were steeped in eroticism from the beginning but censorship forced filmmakers to devise hidden sexual subtexts to preserve a film's subliminal eroticism. In this way, Hollywood films seed our collective psyches with unconscious subtexts. Science fiction films are particularly effective, using horror to induce sexual excitement, as studied in 'Part I: The nature of desire in a trio of science fiction thrillers.' Another device was to display unrestricted consumption of alcohol and tobacco and gratuitous spending. Today, this is a cliche of mainstream cinema but some filmmakers expose the dark underbelly. The five films scrutinized in 'Part II: Portraits of addiction in Hollywood melodrama' make explicit the connections between greed, addictions, and sexuality. Finally, in 'Part III: Perverse desire in mainstream cinema,' the nuanced position toward the psychosexual obsessions on view in the films is investigated by posing the provocative question of whether S&M practice can work as a "cure" for psychic suffering, by raising the alarm over sexuality run amok in a suburban community, and by offering a devastating critique of voyeurism's "fatal attraction" to viewers. The Erotic Screen is an investigation of the nature of human sexuality through the medium of film. It stirs up discussion and debate - and helps these movies live on in our minds.

How Sexual Desire Works written by Frederick Toates and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-09-18 with Psychology categories.

There are countless books on sex and an endless fascination with the subject. Varieties and vagaries of sexual desire have long been documented, but there has been little engagement with cutting-edge scientific research to uncover the biological and psychological bases of sexual desire. Here, Frederick Toates uses the insights of modern science to show how a wide range of desire-related phenomena - fantasy, novelty-seeking, sexual addiction, sex-drug interactions, fetishes, voyeurism, and sexual violence and killing - start to make sense. For example, the role of the brain's neurochemical dopamine can now be much better understood in terms of wanting, and a distinction between wanting and liking has been established. Also, an understanding of the layered organization of the brain, sometimes described as hierarchical, can be used to explain temptation and conflict. This is a fascinating book with great social relevance to society and its problems with sexuality.

Welch may surprise you with his answer. Along the way he will introduce you to someone with words of comfort and hope you may never have heard before.

Alternative Models Of Addiction written by Hanna Pickard and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-07 with Addicts categories.

For much of the 20th century, theories of addictive behaviour and motivation were polarized between two models. The first model viewed addiction as a moral failure for which addicts are rightly held responsible and judged accordingly. The second model, in contrast, viewed addiction as a specific brain disease caused by neurobiological adaptations occurring in response to chronic drug or alcohol use, and over which addicts have no choice or control. As our capacity to observe neurobiological phenomena improved, the second model became scientific orthodoxy, increasingly dominating addiction research and informing public understandings of addiction. More recently, however, a dissenting view has emerged within addiction research, based partly on new scientific research and partly on progress in philosophical and psychological understandings of relevant mental phenomena. This view does not revert to treating addiction as a moral failure, but nonetheless holds that addictive behaviour is fundamentally motivated by choice and subject to at least a degree of voluntary control. On this alternative model of addiction, addictive behaviour is an instrumental means to ends that are desired by the individual, although much controversy exists with respect to the rationality or irrationality of these ends, the degree and nature of the voluntary control of addictive behaviour and motivation, the explanation of the difference between addictive and non-addictive behaviour and motivation, and, lastly, the extent to which addictive behaviour and motivation is correctly characterised as pathological or diseased. This research topic includes papers in the traditions of neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, law and social science that explore alternative understandings of addiction.
