'Psychopathie' roept de gedachte opa an mensen die zonder enige wroeging gruwelijke misdaden begaan. Deze extreme gevallen die de publieke opinie sterk beroeren zijn zeldzaam. Buiten de context van deze zweer zware misdaden stelt men de diagnose bijna niet, terwijl dat wel zou moeten. De huis-tuin-en-keukenpsychopaat is eigenlijk nog gevaarlijker omdat hij meestal moeilijk te doorzien is en jarenlang een destructieve invloed kan laten gelden. 'Destructieve relaties op de schop' geeft je handvatten om psychopathie te herkennen en jezelf en mensen in je omgeving te beschermen. Jan Storms schetst een strategie voor het herstellen van je welbevinden. Bijzondere aandacht is er voor het beschermen van kinderen die afhankelijk zijn van een psychopaat.
