We have endeavoured also to select subjects replete with suggestive value and suitable for a diversity of applications. Most of all, we have striven for absolute exactitude and fidelity of presentment so that the exquisite subtlety of all the details may be preserved. Not only are the meas ured drawings given, so that the physical actuality of each subject may be grasped, but likewise half tone illustrations which convey the spirit of the work and the ensemble of its environment.
