Besonders in der ehemaligen DDR- Forschung verwies man auf den materiell fundierten Gegensatz von Adel und Bauer. In der marxistischen Forschung interessierten neben den Ursachen, Programmen und Abläufen die Beziehungen zwischen reformatorischer und bäuerlicher Bewegung. Beide wiesen ein eigenes Profil auf, aber es bestanden Wechselbeziehungen, und beide verkörperten einen revolutionären Prozess. Das Resultat der marxistischen Interpretation lautete: Der Bauernkrieg bilde den Höhepunkt einer "frühbürgerlichen Revolution". Im Gegensatz interpretiert und charakterisiert Peter Blickle die Bauernkriegsbewegung der Jahre 1524 - 1526, als eine "Revolution des gemeinen Mannes"2. In dieser Bewegung forderten nicht nur die Bauern ihr Recht und eine angemessene Integration in die Gesellschaft des 16. Jahrhunderts, wie sie ihnen nach Gottes Gerechtigkeit ("Göttliches Recht") zustand, sondern auch die nicht privilegierten Schichten.3Ausgehend von den Forschungen von Peter Blickle4 und Günther Vogler5 untersuche ich die Fragestellung, ob die Bauerkriegsbewegung eine soziale, eine bürgerliche oder frühbürgerliche Revolution war. Der erste Teil der Hausarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der aktuellen, historischen Darstellung der Bauernkriegsbewegung im Allgemeinen. Im zweiten Teil wird die Bauernkriegsbewegung im Speziellen, anhand der habsburgischen Länder, des Kriegsverlaufs von 1524 bis 1526, der Monopolisierung des Bergbaus und der Rolle der Bergarbeiter untersucht. Den Ursachen und den Inhalten der Aufstände in Tirol und in Oberösterreich widmet sich dieses Kapitel detaillierter. Im dritten Teil behandele ich die Position Martin Luthers vor der Bauernkriegsbewegung, dem Wandel und die Meinungsentwicklung Luthers während dieser Zeit. Surveys how reunification in 1990 impacted historical scholarship in the former East Germany. With German reunification and the demise of the German Democratic Republic in 1990, East German historians and their traditions of historiography were removed from mainstream discourse in Germany and relegated to the periphery. By the mid-1990s, few GDR-trained historians remained in academia. These developments led to a greater degree of intellectual pluralism, yet marginalized many accomplished scholars. East German Historians since Reunification assesses what was gained and lost in the process of dissolving and remaking GDR institutions of historical scholarship. The collection combines primary and secondary sources: younger scholars offer analyses of East German historiography, while senior scholars who lived through the dismantling process provide firsthand accounts. Contributors address broad trends in scholarship as well as particular subfields and institutions.
