Inhaltsangabe:Zusammenfassung: Am 12. April 2003 traf die Mitgliederversammlung des Nationalen Olympischen Komitees für Deutschland die Entscheidung, mit Leipzig als Bewerberstadt im internationalen Auswahlverfahren um die Ausrichtung der XXX. Olympischen Sommerspiele im Jahr 2012 anzutreten. Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit den Bewerbungskonzepten für den nationalen Auswahlprozess, in dem neben Leipzig auch noch Düsseldorf, Frankfurt/Main, Hamburg und Stuttgart vertreten waren. Die Arbeit geht dabei auf alle fünf Städte und Bewerbungen gleichermaßen kritisch ein und untersucht darüber hinaus viele Aspekte, die Einfluss auf die Konzepte nehmen konnten, angefangen von dem Themenkomplex Sport, über die Entstehung und Entwicklung der Olympischen Bewegung bis hin zu Formalien und Richtlinien für die Bewerbungen selber. Das Olympische Dorf steht dabei immer im Mittelpunkt der Untersuchungen. Es wurde festgestellt, dass die Olympischen Werte nicht per se existieren, sondern bewusst kommuniziert und gelebt werden müssen. Trotz anhaltender Kommerzialisierung und immer häufigeren Leistungsmanipulationen im Sport, beziehungsweise gerade deswegen, besteht die dringende Notwendigkeit, die Werte an heutige Bedürfnisse anzupassen und sich für ihre Wiederbelebung einzusetzen. Wirtschaftliche Aspekte sind bei der Planung wichtig, um den finanziellen Rahmen zu berücksichtigen und öffentliche Akzeptanz zu schaffen bzw. eine sinnvolle Nachnutzung zu ermöglichen. Im Anschluss der Olympischen Spiele müssen die geschaffenen Flächen und Bauten sinnvoll genutzt werden können. Dazu ist es unumgänglich, zukünftige demografische, wirtschaftliche und technologische Entwicklungen zu untersuchen, um die Gestaltung des Dorfes zielgruppen- und bedarfsgerecht zu realisieren. Das vorgelegte Konzept versteht die Athleten als Gäste des Dorfes und nicht nur als Hauptakteure der Olympischen Spiele. Daran anknüpfend werden verschiedene Vorschläge gemacht, die die internationale Begegnung fördern sowie für qualitative Arbeitsbedingungen sorgen und eine Normalität fernab vom Trubel der Spiele kreieren. Insbesondere die Empfehlungen dieser Arbeit zur Gestaltung des Dorfes während der Spiele können, unabhängig von einer Vergabe der Olympischen Spiele an Deutschland, berücksichtigt und, z.B. für Athletendörfer während Welt- und Europameisterschaften, verwendet werden.
