Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Nationalsozialismus, Zweiter Weltkrieg, Universität Paderborn, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Zuge der Machtergreifung der Nationalsozialisten in Deutschland im Jahre 1933 vollzog sich ein tiefgreifender Einschnitt für die deutsche Gesellschaft. Auf einmal drehte sich die Weltsicht zu einer rassistisch veranlagten Weltanschauung. Oppositionelle und ethnisch definierte Gegner wie Juden mussten unter den Folgen dieser neu orientierten Ideologie leiden. Viele von ihnen wurden durch Bedrängung und Verfolgung zur Emigration gezwungen. Für diese Menschen bedeutete die Flucht ein Wendepunkt in ihrem Leben. Sie mussten ihr derzeitiges Leben aufgeben und somit ihre Heimat, ihren Beruf, ihre Verwandten und Freunde zurück lassen. Doch auch wenn die Emigration zwangsweise eintrat, so ermöglicht sie immer auch neue Erfahrungen in den Zufluchtsländern. In meiner Hausarbeit möchte ich genau auf diese Zufluchtsländer eingehen. Ich habe mich speziell für das Auswandererland Argentinien entschieden. Die Idee zu dieser Arbeit entstand durch ein Buch mit dem Titel „Michael M. irrt durch Buenos Aires“, von Paul Zech geschrieben. In diesem Buch geht es um einen Emigranten, der zur Zeit des Nationalsozialismus aus Deutschland flüchtet und sich in Argentinien eine neue Heimat aufbaut. Zuerst möchte ich in meiner Arbeit darauf eingehen, wie die Situation der Juden, vor der Flucht nach Argentinien, in Deutschland aussah und welche Motive sie zur Flucht getrieben haben. Des Weiteren soll geklärt werden, warum manche Juden sich ausgerechnet für Argentinien entschieden haben, da dieses Land doch sehr weit von Deutschland entfernt liegt. Ich möchte in meiner Arbeit auf die Beweggründe eingehen, die die Emigranten empfanden, als sie sich für das weit entfernte Ziel Argentinien entschieden haben. Im Folgenden wird nun untersucht, ob und wie die deutschen Juden, die in den 30er Jahren nach Argentinien ausgewandert sind, sich dort in die Gesellschaft integrieren konnten. Gab es Probleme im Integrationsprozess? Wenn ja, welche?

Trotz stetem Interesse der DDR an politischen und vor allem wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen zu Argentinien gestalteten sich diese zunächst schwierig. Schuld daran war neben den bis 1973 fehlenden diplomatischen Beziehungen die wirtschaftliche und politische Instabilität Argentiniens. So entstanden zunächst Kontakte zwischen Außenhandelsunternehmen und Institutionen und eine diskret agierende DDR-Handelsvertretung in Buenos Aires, bis sie 1962 geschlossen wurde. Erst während der argentinischen Militärdiktatur 1976-1983 stabilisierten sich die Beziehungen. Aufgrund Argentiniens politischer und wirtschaftlicher Isolierung vom Westen nahm die Bedeutung des Ostblocks als Handelspartner zu. Im Falklandkrieg stellte sich die DDR-Diplomatie auf die argentinische Seite und davon profitierten die Beziehungen auch nach dem Regierungswechsel und der Rückkehr Argentiniens zur Demokratie 1983. Die Kooperation weitete sich nun auf außen- und geopolitische Bereiche aus. Erst der Fall der Berliner Mauer beendete die Projekte zur wirtschaftlichen und politischen Zusammenarbeit abrupt.

Their life trajectories, professional activities, and contacts to local elites in their new homes have hardly been subject to systematic research to date. Their new lives in Latin America, their careers e.g. as diplomats, secret service agents or scientists are therefore a main focus of this volume. The biographies of these people and their networks are woven into the larger political, social, and scientific contexts of postwar Europe and Latin America, especially in the early Cold War period.

This is the story of how Nazi war criminals escaped from justice at the end of the Second World War by fleeing through the Tyrolean Alps to Italian seaports, and the role played by the Red Cross, the Vatican, and the Secret Services of the major powers in smuggling them away from prosecution in Europe to a new life in South America. The Nazi sympathies held by groups and individuals within these organizations evolved into a successful assistance network for fugitive criminals, providing them not only with secret escape routes but hiding places for their loot. Gerald Steinacher skillfully traces the complex escape stories of some of the most prominent Nazi war criminals, including Adolf Eichmann, showing how they mingled and blended with thousands of technically stateless or displaced persons, all flooding across the Alps to Italy and from there, to destinations abroad. The story of their escape shows clearly just how difficult the apprehending of war criminals can be. As Steinacher shows, all the major countries in the post-war world had 'mixed motives' for their actions, ranging from the shortage of trained intelligence personnel in the immediate aftermath of the war to the emerging East-West confrontation after 1947, which led to many former Nazis being recruited as agents turned in the Cold War.
