At a moment when “freedom of religion” rhetoric fuels public debate, it is easy to assume that sex and religion have faced each other in pitched battle throughout modern U.S. history. Yet, by tracking the nation’s changing religious and sexual landscapes over the twentieth century, this book challenges that zero-sum account of sexuality locked in a struggle with religion. It shows that religion played a central role in the history of sexuality in the United States, shaping sexual politics, communities, and identities. At the same time, sexuality has left lipstick traces on American religious history. From polyamory to pornography, from birth control to the AIDS epidemic, this book follows religious faiths and practices across a range of sacred spaces: rabbinical seminaries, African American missions, Catholic schools, pagan communes, the YWCA, and much more. What emerges is the shared story of religion and sexuality and how both became wedded to American culture and politics. The volume, framed by a provocative introduction by Gillian Frank, Bethany Moreton, and Heather R. White and a compelling afterword by John D’Emilio, features essays by Rebecca T. Alpert and Jacob J. Staub, Rebecca L. Davis, Lynne Gerber, Andrea R. Jain, Kathi Kern, Rachel Kranson, James P. McCartin, Samira K. Mehta, Daniel Rivers, Whitney Strub, Aiko Takeuchi-Demirci, Judith Weisenfeld, and Neil J. Young.

“The graveyard is the richest place on earth.” This quote from Les Brown resonated in my spirit for many years. As I grew up, I learned what it meant. Too often, people pass on to eternity without ever knowing the reason that they were placed on earth in the first place. All their gifts, talents, and treasures that God placed in them goes to the graveyard with them. For the next 365 days, we will learn how to use our God-given tools to not only discover our destiny but also to walk it out. Please join me on my journey to break this cycle and make sure that leaving this earth without fulfilling our destiny will not be our legacy.

“Incredibly rich with wisdom and insight that will leave the reader, whether single or married, feeling uplifted.” —The Washington Times Based on the acclaimed sermon series by New York Times bestselling author Timothy Keller, this book shows everyone—Christians, skeptics, singles, longtime married couples, and those about to be engaged—the vision of what marriage should be according to the Bible. Modern culture would have you believe that everyone has a soul mate; that romance is the most important part of a successful marriage; that your spouse is there to help you realize your potential; that marriage does not mean forever, but merely for now; and that starting over after a divorce is the best solution to seemingly intractable marriage issues. But these modern-day assumptions are wrong. Timothy Keller, with insights from Kathy, his wife of thirty-seven years, shows marriage to be a glorious relationship that is also misunderstood and mysterious. The Meaning of Marriage offers instruction on how to have a successful marriage, and is essential reading for anyone who wants to know God and love more deeply in this life.

Most of us know “how to” get healthy. Where things often fall apart is with our “want to.” In Lysa TerKeurst’s book Made to Crave, she helps women find the missing link between our desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen. But when French fries are so close and God feels so far away, we need more than nineteen chapters to stay motivated and on track. That’s why Lysa wrote this daily devotional with sixty inspirational entries. There is plenty of new material not in the original book, as well as your favorite nuggets of wisdom from Made to Crave. In this devotional you will find: A daily opening Scripture Thought for the Day Devotion Closing prayer Just like the Made to Crave book, this Made to Crave Devotional is not a how-to-get-healthy book. It is the road to finding the lasting “want to” that extends far beyond the surface issues of weighing less and wanting to wear a smaller clothes size. There’s a spiritual battle going on. It’s real. And it’s amazing how perfectly the Bible gives us specific ways to find victory over our food struggles. Even for girls who don’t crave carrots.

“Strong” often means physical strength and a powerful presence … but according to the Bible, being a mighty man means learning to listen, speak up, and do the right thing even when it’s hard. In Devotions to Make You Stronger, ninety days of quick, short, easy-to-read and boy-friendly devotions help young guys 8 and up discover the strong person God made them to be inside and out, and how they can grow up to be powerful in the ways that count no matter their physical appearance. David was part of a group of mighty men. Samson could lift heavy doors and defeat entire armies with a jawbone. Joshua led an entire nation in battles against the giants and warriors of Canaan and won. But those impressive feats aren’t what actually made them “strong.” In fact, those things aren’t even what made them heroes. What really made them strong and able to take on anything was the stuff happening inside their hearts. The good news? You can be just as strong and amazing by following their good habits—and avoiding their mistakes. Each of the ninety devotions in this book take a few minutes to read (some are even funny!) and explore the entire Bible to show you the secrets to building your brain muscles and making your body healthier so you are ready for any challenge. Plus, every devotion shows exactly how the Bible applies to you, so you can confidently go out and do powerful things no matter what you face. Devotions to Make Your Stronger: has devotions that can be read in under five minutes, making time with God and exploring the Bible easy to do contains age-appropriate, biblically sound information in words meant to appeal to boys 8 to 12 and their interests contains large text and an open page design, making it perfect for reluctant readers is part of a series of 90-day devotionals for boys that includes Devotions to Make You Smarter and Devotions to Make You Deeper

Real Life Devotions is just that. They are inspired from Eric’s actual life, either from physical experience of things he took part in or saw or that he was very aware of. The idea came from the Holy Spirit and was sparked as he read devotions, realizing, “I have a story for that!” “I have a story for that too!” It is a very easy read, short for each day. Why forty? Jesus went into the desert for forty days and nights. God made it rain for forty days and nights. Forty is very significant in the scripture. Forty is the number of testing and of probation that results in a breakthrough. The author’s prayer is that you may have testing and breakthrough during and after reading and practicing this devotion and reading it and practicing it in future times.
