Management Of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus E Book written by Steven Levene and has been published by Elsevier Health Sciences this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-11-29 with Medical categories.

This title is directed primarily towards health care professionals outside of the United States. In the 21st Century, the management of type 2 diabetes has become even more important both in the primary health care setting and in the UK government's health policy. With the publication of the National Service Framework and the allied National Clinical Guidelines, both patients and the government expect practices to deliver appropriate and effective care to a high standard. This handbook addresses many concepts important in the day-to-day management of these patients. In addition to the discussion of specific medical management of type 2 diabetes (including the improvement of cardiovascular risk factors), the book explores the use of self-management techniques, the consultation process, and the use of psychological techniques to influence health-related behavior. All aspects of the text are linked, when appropriate, to the GMS contract. The authors include a full time GP delivering diabetic care and an eminent Consultant/academic at the leading edge of diabetes research The text is completely up-to-date with numerous current references, incorporating the latest guidance The span of the text is comprehensive, including clinical, organisational and psycho-social topics of importance in delivering high-quality diabetes care The text is cross-referenced to the relevant QOF indicators and NSF standards This book also covers the relevant aspects of diabetes in Curriculum Statement 15.6 prepared by the Royal College of General Practitioners, which forms the basis of the new membership examination and the competencies expected of General Practitioners. The management options include extensive balanced discussions about not just drugs, but also health education and appropriate referrals to specialists The approach is neither didactic nor promotional, and aims to provide sufficient practical information to help clinicians make optimal decisions that take full account of the latest authoritative guidance, but which can be tailored rationally to the individual patient's needs Many of the concepts covered - including reduction of cardiovascular risk, health education, audit and lifestyle - are extremely relevant to non-diabetes care The appendices include a detailed drug formulary and the relevant 2006-2008 QOF clinical indicators. Future trends and further reading are clearly set out, ensuring that the book will remain useful for the next few years.

Diabetic Renal Retinal Syndrome written by E.A. Friedman and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Medical categories.

After a decade or longer, approximately one-third of individuals with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes commence a downhill course in which decreasing renal function and failing vision define a Renal-Retinal Syndrome, dominating all aspects of life and presaging early death. Only a generation ago, survival after onset of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in diabetes was limited because rehabilitation was preempted by blindness, limb amputation, stroke, and heart disease. By 1998, however, team management has improved the outlook, with preserved sight and return to work and home responsibilities, usually for a decade or longer, following kidney transplantation and laser photocoagulation. Recognition of the critical requirement for blood pressure regulation and metabolic control are central themes in management. In this unique book, the accomplishments of ophthalmologists, nephrologists, diabetologists, transplant surgeons, and basic scientists are blended into a strategic approach that may be readily applied by all those caring for diabetic patients. Each of twenty-one presentations suitable for primary care physicians, as well as for subspecialists concerned with macrovascular and microvascular complications of diabetes, is placed in perspective by an introductory editorial analysis. Promising near-term innovative therapies, including insertion of genetically engineered beta cells or polymer-coated islets of Langerhans, interdiction of kinins that promote retinal angiogenesis, and prevention of synthesis of advanced glycosylated endproducts (AGEs), are presented in detail. While comprehensive care of diabetic patients reflects multiple incremental advances that in sum afford major benefit, this text envisions further remarkable changes likely to suppress and possibly entirely prevent the Diabetic Renal-Retinal Syndrome.

The Diabetes LIFEMAP changes the way chronic diabetes care is delivered forever. The LIFEMAP raises diabetes care for the primary care and ancillary healthcare provider to the level of world renown diabetes expert, David Bleich, MD. For patients, the LIFEMAP provides real-time diabetes care that changes a “tough-to-manage” disease into a shared, personal, and efficient management experience. The LIFEMAP can be used as a stand-alone diabetes management tool or can be combined with our cloud based LIFEMAP platform through GoMo Health. Now care can be delivered seamlessly at home for both provider and patient. The Diabetes LIFEMAP is the playbook for 21st century diabetes care. It starts with an understanding of the basic principles of insulin secretion and moves to a discussion of how the LIFEMAP evolved and why it is such a powerful management tool. Finally, case studies are provided to reinforce basic concepts of LIFEMAP diabetes care with real world examples. Taken together, The Diabetes LIFEMAP succeeds in helping healthcare providers overcome a difficult to manage disease and provides patients with an optimal diabetes outcome with the least amount of effort necessary to achieve high level results.
