DENTOFACIAL ORTHOPEDICS IN THE GROWING CHILD A clinical guide to understanding why malocclusions occur in children and how to diagnose and correct them early to reestablish normal growth using dentofacial orthopedics Dentofacial Orthopedics in the Growing Child: Understanding Craniofacial Growth and the Management of Malocclusion provides step-by-step guidance on diagnosing and treating malocclusions in young patients. The book addresses both class I, II and III malocclusions, and more complicated cases such as facial asymmetries and temporomandibular problems that develop in the primary dentition. Concise, highly illustrated chapters describe normal and abnormal craniofacial development, and how and why environmental factors can affect the growth pattern. Early diagnosis and treatment planning, long-term case resolution, complementary methods of diagnosis such as occlusion and cephalometric, and more are discussed. Provides clinicians with visual guidance on how to rapidly diagnose malocclusions Contains over 1,300 high-quality images of different Class I, Class II, and Class III malocclusions, including temporomandibular problems, both before and after correction, and long-term follow-ups Helps clinicians correct different malocclusions using the fewest number of appliances and in the least amount of time Includes tables of different cephalometric of before and after corrections for most clinical cases presented in the book Contains a chapter on how to communicate and bond with children as patients to help them understand the importance of wearing their appliances Children are not young adults so diagnostic methods which are regularly used can often misguide the clinician. Dentofacial Orthopedics in the Growing Child is an invaluable reference that guides pediatric dentists, orthodontists, general dentists, and maxillofacial and craniofacial surgeons with treating children.

Diagnosis And Treatment Planning In Orthognathic Surgery written by Devinder Preet Singh and has been published by Nova Science Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016 with Jaws categories.

The human face should be in perfect harmony and balance along with ideal functioning of the stomatognathic system... was a view idealised by Apollo Belvedere, who created the neoclassical Greek sculpture of the head and face. However, Nature ensures that all of us are not blessed with perfect faces. It is for the resolution of these imperfections that orthodontic treatment is sought. But for patients whose problems are so severe that neither growth nor camouflage offers an ideal solution, surgical realignment of jaws or repositioning of dentoalveolar segments is the only choice. Surgery is not a substitute for orthodontics in these patients; instead, it must be properly coordinated with orthodontics and other dental treatment to achieve overall positive results. With recent advances in surgical technology, it is now possible to treat these patients successfully for whom orthodontic camouflage would have resulted in esthetically unacceptable and often unstable results. This art and science of diagnosis, treatment planning, and execution of treatment of dentofacial deformities by combining orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery to correct severe musculoskeletal, dento-osseous, and soft tissue deformities of the jaws and associated structures is called orthognathic surgery. Successful orthognathic surgery demands the understanding and cooperation of the oral and maxillofacial surgeon, orthodontist, and general dentist. Each must provide a proper diagnosis and treatment plan, perform necessary treatment and refer to necessary treatment outside his or her respective area of expertise. In order for patients to receive state-of-art care when correcting their deformities, the orthognathic team must: 1. recognise the various characteristics of malocclusion and dento-facial deformity; 2. define the nature of the problem, including the possible etiology; and 3. design a treatment strategy based on the specific needs and desires of the individual. In this modern era, the role of the doctor has shifted from that of sole decision maker in the planning process to that of a partner with the patient as co-decision-maker. Therefore, the clinician must not overlook the importance of including the patient and parents in the treatment planning process. Ackermann and Proffit have suggested that clinicians are generally more influenced by objective findings (problem list) and patients are more influenced by subjective findings (their perception of their needs and values). This dichotomy makes communication an effective tool when one is faced with the decision between orthodontic camouflage and surgical orthodontic correction. The authors' of this book examine the diagnosis and treatment planning in orthognathic surgery.

3d Diagnosis And Treatment Planning In Orthodontics written by Jean-Marc Retrouvey and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-03-13 with Medical categories.

This richly illustrated book is a wide-ranging guide to modern diagnostics and treatment planning in orthodontics, which are mandatory prior to the initiation of any type of comprehensive treatment. The importance of three-dimensional (3D) imaging techniques has been increasingly recognized owing to the shortcomings of conventional two-dimensional imaging in some patients, such as those requiring complex adult treatment and those with temporomandibular joint dysfunctions or sleep disturbances. In the first part of this book, readers will find clear description and illustration of the diagnostic role of the latest 3D imaging techniques, including cone beam computed tomography, intra-oral scanning, and magnetic resonance imaging. The second part explains in detail the application of 3D techniques in treatment planning for orthodontic and orthognathic surgery. Guidance is also provided on the use of image fusion software for the purposes of accurate diagnosis and precise design of the most appropriate biomechanical approach in patients with malocclusions.

Surgery First Orthodontic Management written by Chai Kiat Chng and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-29 with Medical categories.

This book is a comprehensive guide to the surgery-first orthognathic approach (SFOA), which overcomes the problem of the very prolonged treatment period associated with conventional orthognathic surgery by avoiding the presurgical phase. The shorter duration of the treatment is due to a phenomenon triggered by the surgery, termed the regional acceleratory phenomenon, whereby higher osteoclastic activity and metabolic changes at the dentoalveolar level accelerate postoperative orthodontic tooth movement. In this book, readers will find in-depth discussion of integration of the basic biological principles of SFOA with sound biomechanical doctrines. The authors’ own treatment protocol for surgical and orthodontic management is fully explained. Diagnosis and treatment plans are presented for various skeletal maxillofacial deformities, and key considerations in pre- and postsurgical patient care are highlighted. Detailed attention is given to complication management and to the impact of recent advances such as 3D image integration, virtual surgical planning, and rapid prototyping of surgical wafers. This richly illustrated book will be an ideal resource and quick reference guide for orthodontists at all levels of experience.
