Die Anmerkungen, die zum Teil recht grofse Muhe verursacht haben, enthalten teils historische, teils sachliche Notizen; aufserdem berichtigen sie irrige Anschauungen Galileis. Da ich mir die Ausgabe auch in Handen von Schulern unserer hoheren Schulen denke, wird man hoffentlich diese heutzutage nicht eben schwierige Kritik immerhin als erwunschte Zugabe betrachten. Der Ubersetzung ist der Text der Editio princeps zu Grunde ge legt, wiewohl derselbe durch viele Druckfehler entstellt ist. Manche derselben schleppen sich durch alle italienischen Ausgaben hindurch; in solchen Fallen habe ich wohl in den Anmerkungen auf die Unrichtig keit der Lesart aufmerksam gemacht; eine eigentliche Textkritik je doch einer Ubersetzung beizufugen, erschien mir uber ussig und un zweckmafsig.
