Das Arbeitsheft bietet eine systematische Zusammenfassung der wichtigsten Ansätze, Methoden und Kategorien der sprachgermanistischen historischen Dialogforschung. Nach einem detaillierten Überblick über Gegenstandsbereiche, Erkenntnisinteressen und Forschungsstand und im Anschluss an ein Kapitel zur Quellenkunde und Quellenkritik werden die drei bedeutendsten Ansätze vor dem Hintergrund der Forschung kritisch referiert und an zahlreichen Beispielen ‐ vom »Hildebrandlied« bis hin zu Chat und E-Mail ‐ veranschaulicht: die ethnomethodologisch orientierte, induktiv operierende historische Gesprächsanalyse, die sprechakttheoretisch orientierte, deduktiv operierende historische Dialoggrammatik und die kultur- und sozial-, mentalitäts- und ideengeschichtlich orientierte kulturhistorische Diskursanalyse. Im systematischen Zuschnitt des integrativen Ansatzes dieses germanistischen Arbeitsheftes ergibt sich daraus eine dreifach gestufte Rekonstruktion historischer Dialogexemplare und Dialogsorten: die sprachstrukturelle, die sprachpragmatische und die sprachsoziologische Rekonstruktion. Sprachwandeltheoretische Erörterungen und Analysen vor dem Hintergrund einer zu rekonstruierenden Dialoggeschichte des Deutschen beschließen das Arbeitsheft. Den meisten Abschnitten sind Aufgaben für das Selbststudium oder für Unterrichtszwecke angeschlossen, zu denen im Anhang Lösungshinweise gegeben werden. Ein Glossar leistet erste Hilfe bei der Erklärung dialoglinguistischer Termini und dient zugleich als Sachregister.

Die linguistische historische Dialogforschung ist auch knapp 40 Jahre nach der 'pragmatischen Wende' noch nicht vom Schicksal der ständig wiederholten programmatischen Forderungen erlöst worden. Im Zentrum der Untersuchungen steht deshalb der Versuch einer methodologischen, sprachtheoretischen und empirischen Grundlegung der historischen Dialogforschung. Diese Grundlegung erfolgt vermittels einer historischen Wendung und empirischen Erprobung gesprächsanalytischer und dialoggrammatischer Ansätze der linguistischen Dialogforschung auf der Grundlage einer kultur- und sozialgeschichtlichen, ideen- und mentalitätsgeschichtlichen Erkundung des deutschen Lehrgesprächs im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert. Die Untersuchungen sind insofern zweigeteilt und richten sich zum einen auf theoretische und methodologische Fragen, deren Beantwortung die historische Dimension der linguistischen Dialogforschung systematisieren und operationalisieren soll; und sie richten sich zum anderen empirisch auf das deutsche Lehrgespräch im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert, das zwischen geschlossener Katechetik und offener Sokratik seinen Ort suchte und auf diesem Weg seinen Beitrag zur Herausbildung und Standardisierung des Deutschen als Gesprächssprache leistete - in einem Kommunikationsbereich, der in den deutschen Territorien während dieser 'Sattelzeit' den Mundarten gehörte oder gar zu weiten Teilen der lateinischen und der französischen Sprache das Gesprächsfeld überlassen hatte.

The emergence of language, social intelligence, and tool development are what made homo sapiens sapiens differentiate itself from all other biological species in the world. The use of language and the management of social and instrumental skills imply an awareness of intention and the consideration that one faces another individual with an attitude analogical to that of one's own. The metaphor of 'mirror' aptly comes to mind.Recent investigations have shown that the human ability to 'mirror' other's actions originates in the brain at a much deeper level than phenomenal awareness. A new class of neurons has been discovered in the premotor area of the monkey brain: 'mirror neurons'. Quite remarkably, they are tuned to fire to the enaction as well as observation of specific classes of behavior: fine manual actions and actions performed by mouth. They become activated independent of the agent, be it the self or a third person whose action is observed. The activation in mirror neurons is automatic and binds the observation and enaction of some behavior by the self or by the observed other. The peculiar first-to-third-person 'intersubjectivity' of the performance of mirror neurons and their surprising complementarity to the functioning of strategic communicative face-to-face (first-to-second person) interaction may shed new light on the functional architecture of conscious vs. unconscious mental processes and the relationship between behavioral and communicative action in monkeys, primates, and humans. The present volume discusses the nature of mirror neurons as presented by the research team of Prof. Giacomo Rizzolatti (University of Parma), who originally discovered them, and the implications to our understanding of the evolution of brain, mind and communicative interaction in non-human primates and man.(Series B)
