"'Somebody to love' è il titolo di una celeberrima canzone dei Queen, le cui note sono ascoltate da Davide durante una notte di grande condivisione emotiva con la sua amica Marghy. Per questo motivo la storia di Davide è quanto mai attuale. L'amore negato, l'amore violentato, l'amore identificato come bene puro ('in fondo l'amicizia non è amor senza sesso?') accompagnano come costanti presenze il protagonista. Intorno a lui si muovono molti personaggi, tutti sapientemente tratteggiati con rigore analitico e finezza psicologica dall'autore, Graziano Di Benedetto."
