Así, se ven obligados a recorrer un camino indirecto acudiendo a textos, glosarios o catálogos de otras disciplinas como la limnología, la oceanografía o la geología.El presente volumen nació de la observación frecuente de estos problemas y deficiencias y complila, tras un larga investigación, la mayor parte de las dfiniciones que tienen relación con el objero de estudio de la hidrología. Los múltiples problemas que acarreaba el uso indiscriminado de voces de lenguas extranjeras, principalmente del inglés, fue una de las preocupaciones que motivarosn la creación de un diccionario como el presente. Constituye, a pesar de su carácter no exhaustivo, ubna valios ayuda tanto para alimnos como para docentes en el uso correcto de términos usuales y poco comunes en hidrología.Cada una de las definiciones, aun cuando fueron tomadas sin alteración de otras fuentes, fueron cuidadosamente revisadas por personal especializado, lo que constituye una garantía de claridad y precisión en cad uno de los términos que se tratan.
