Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2014 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Nationalsozialismus, Zweiter Weltkrieg, Note: 2,7, Universität der Bundeswehr München, Neubiberg (Historisches institut), Veranstaltung: Staat und Gesellschaft in der Geschichte, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Verbrechen des Nationalsozialistischen Systems in Deutschland reichten von Diffamierung und Verfolgung über Deportation und systematischer Ermordung bis zur Verschleppung von Menschen und Zwangsarbeit. Der Vollzug dieser Verbrechen, die ideologisch-rassistisch geprägt waren, ist bis heute eine beispielslose Erfahrung für Europa gewesen. In dieser Hausarbeit soll untersucht werden, wie das politische Ziel der Regierung, die Arisierung der deutschen Wirtschaft, abgelaufen ist und welche Mittel dazu genutzt wurden, die jüdischen Unternehmer aus ihren Unternehmen zu verdrängen. Dabei möchte ich auch klären, inwieweit der Begriff einer Schonzeit für die Jahre nach der Machtergreifung bis zum Jahre 1938 zutrifft oder ob es sich bei genauer Betrachtung nur um eine imaginäre Schonzeit handelt. Dazu werde ich im ersten Teil der Arbeit den Begriff Arisierung definieren und danach die ersten Maßnahmen der Regierung betrachten nachdem sie die Macht übernommen hatte. Des Weiteren werde ich die Ausschaltung der jüdischen Bürger in den Verbänden und mittleren Unternehmen untersuchen und anschließend anhand der größten deutschen Aktiengesellschaft versuchen, erste Erkenntnisse über die Maßnahmen und Mittel der Arisierung zu gewinnen. Diese Erkenntnisse werde ich im zweiten Teil der Hausarbeit im Privatbankensektor vertiefen und hier deutlich aufzeigen, welchen Schikanen sich die jüdischen Unternehmen aussetzen mussten. Dazu werde ich zuerst die Anzahl und Verteilung der Privatbanken analysieren und auch das Verhältnis von nichtjüdischen und jüdischen Banken in diesem Sektor klären sowie die Einschränkungen und Eingriffe, die im geschäftlichen Betrieb der Banken vorgenommen wurden. Außerdem werde ich die Zwangsarisierung der jüdischen Privatbanken betrachten. Am Ende dieser Arbeit fasse ich meine Ergebnisse zusammen und kläre, ob der Begriff Schonzeit für den Zeitraum bis 1938 zutrifft oder ob es sich damit um eine Illusion handelt.

Opportunism combined with anti-Semitism led non-Nazi businessmen to acquire the largest German-Jewish companies in the period 1933–1935. These hostile takeovers were made possible by the Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Bank, which recalled loans previously extended to Jewish firms. Thereby Germany's largest banks obtained new loan fees, new supervisory board seats and became the house banks for the new Gentile-owned firms. The German judiciary did not defend Jewish property rights, because judges shared the same conservative mindset. Scholarship has previously not discovered this 1933–1935 paradigm because of a focus on Berlin government or Nazi Party actions, instead of the Jewish companies. In addition, a failure to distinguish between multi-million dollar enterprises and tiny shops caused scholars to emphasize the year 1938, when thousands of mom-and-pop shops became bankrupt.

The persecution and mass-murder of the Jews during World War II would not have been possible without the modern organization of division of labor. Moreover, the perpetrators were dependent on human and organizational resources they could not always control by hierarchy and coercion. Instead, the persecution of the Jews was based, to a large extent, on a web of inter-organizational relations encompassing a broad variety of non-hierarchical cooperation as well as rivalry and competition. Based on newly accessible government and corporate archives, this volume combines fresh evidence with an interpretation of the governance of persecution, presented by prominent historians and social scientists. Gerald D. Feldman was Professor of History and Director of the Institute of European Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. His special fields of interest were 20th-century German history, and he had a special interest in business history, most recently authoring a biography of Hugo Stinnes, participating in the history of the Deutsche Bank, and writing a history of the Allianz Insurance Company in the Nazi period. Wolfgang Seibel is Professor of Political Science at the University of Konstanz, Germany. Previous appointments include guest professorships at the Institute for Advanced Study, Vienna (1992), and the University of California at Berkeley (1994). He was also a temporary member of the School of Social Science (1989/90) and of the School of Historical Studies (2003) of the Institute of Advanced Study, Princeton.
