Auf der Grundlage des ausführlich dargestellten strukturgenetischen Ansatzes zur Begriffsentwicklung wird der Entwicklungsverlauf einiger zentraler ökonomischer Begriffe wie Geld, Preise und Profit sowie des Verständnisses ökonomischer Systeme wie Laden, Bank und Fabrik rekonstruiert. Die formulierten Entwicklungssequenzen basieren auf systematisch erhobenen und ausgewerteten Interviewdaten von Kindern und Jugendlichen im Alter zwischen 10 und 19 Jahren. Am konkreten Beispiel der untersuchten Begriffe wird diskutiert, inwieweit die späteren Begriffe der Kinder und Jugendlichen durch Verallgemeinerung, Differenzierung und wechselseitige Integration früherer Begriffe hervorgehen und welche Rolle die soziale Vermittlung begriffsbezogener Informationen bei der Begriffsentwicklung spielt.
