Inhaltsangabe:Problemstellung: Die Arbeit greift ein Problem auf, das für den schulischen Fremdsprachenunterricht von zentraler Bedeutung ist, aber wegen seiner hohen Komplexität nur selten bzw. nur partiell aufgegriffen worden ist: das Problem eines systematisch konzipierten Trainingsprogramms für die Fertigkeit, Texte auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen zu analysieren. Das Werk versteht sich in seiner Gesamtausrichtung als empirisches Projekt zur Analyse und Evaluation eines Lehrbuchsystems (Green Line/Skyline) unter dem Gesichtspunkt des durch dieses Lehrwerksystem gelenkten Aufbaus der textanalytischen Kompetenz. Forschungsmethodisch handelt es sich um eine qualitative und in Ansätzen quantitative Inhaltsanalyse. Typisch für die gewählte Forschungsmethode ist der zyklische Aufbau: Zentraler Teil der theoretischen Grundlegung (Kapitel 1) ist die Darlegung der sieben Merkmale der Textualität nach Beaugrande/Dressler. Auf diese baut weitgehend die Darstellung eines idealtypischen Modells der Komponenten eines effektiven Trainingsprogramms zur textanalytischen Kompetenz auf (Kapitel 2). Dieses Modell wird wiederum als Kriteriumskomplex verwendet, um im empirischen Forschungsteil (Kapitel 3) das Lehrwerk Green Line mit dem Folgeband Skyline zu analysieren und zu evaluieren. Die Arbeit zieht neben den Hauptquellen Beaugrand/Dressler und Nuttall eine breite Palette einschlägiger Publikationen heran und illustriert damit viele Einzelaussagen. Insgesamt aber handelt es sich um ein Forschungsprojekt, das einen durchaus neuen Weg der Analyse von Lehrmaterialien beschreitet und das darüber hinaus eine interessante Gesamtschau eines Trainingsprogramms zur Entwicklung der textanalytischen Kompetenz entwickelt hat. Ways with Words, first published in 1983, is a classic study of children learning to use language at home and at school in two communities only a few miles apart in the south-eastern United States. 'Roadville' is a white working-class community of families steeped for generations in the life of textile mills; 'Trackton' is an African-American working-class community whose older generations grew up farming the land, but whose existent members work in the mills. In tracing the children's language development the author shows the deep cultural differences between the two communities, whose ways with words differ as strikingly from each other as either does from the pattern of the townspeople, the 'mainstream' blacks and whites who hold power in the schools and workplaces of the region. Employing the combined skills of ethnographer, social historian, and teacher, the author raises fundamental questions about the nature of language development, the effects of literacy on oral language habits, and the sources of communication problems in schools and workplaces.

The beginnings of the teaching concept lie in the 1970s, although there were already tendencies towards this type of writing lessons before that. In the 1990s, action and production orientation found its way into curricula; writing on texts is now an integral part of German lessons. In the following, after a clarification of terms, the most important basic principles of action- and production-oriented literature lessons are to be shown and on the basis of which the necessity of action- and production-oriented German lessons is to be justified. The historical development is then shown and finally some of the action- and production-oriented methods for teaching are presented. The conclusion of the work should be a specially devised project to show how forms of action and production orientation can be realized in the classroom. Schiller's drama Maria Stuart was chosen for this purpose.
