Immer weniger Freizeitmoglichkeiten werden den Jugendlichen in der Schule geboten und so kommt es, dass die Schuler nach der Schule jubelnd die Schule verlassen und am nachsten Morgen unmotiviert wieder den Klassenraum betreten. Die Einfuhrung von Ganztagsschulen soll jedoch dabei helfen, dass Jugendliche wieder gerne zur Schule gehen, sie sollen gerne dort Zeit verbringen und eher traurig sein, wenn die Schule geschlossen sein sollte. Ob sich schliesslich das gegenwartige Bild von der Schule als Zwangsgemeinschaft, durch die Einfuhrung von Ganztagsschulen andern lasst, werde ich in dieser Arbeit untersuchen. Ich werde zuerst den Begriff der Ganztagsschule klaren und verschiedene Definitionen darlegen. Des Weiteren werde ich den Unterschied zur Halbtagsschule verdeutlichen. Als Beispiel fur eine Ganztagsschule dient mir die X-Schule, Y. Ich werde Bezug auf Meinungen verschiedener Experten nehmen, die sich zum Thema Ganztagsschulen aussern und ihre Meinungen vergleichen. Schliesslich werde ich selber Stellung zum Thema Ganztagsschule nehmen und meine personliche Einstellung darstellen."

Der Partizipationsgedanke gehört von jeher zu den zentralen Themen pädagogischer Arbeit. Von einer ausgeprägten Partizipationskultur in der Ganztagsschule kann allerdings kaum gesprochen werden. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird das Modell der demokratischen Partizipation um das Modell der pädagogischen Partizipation erweitert und auf die besonderen Bedingungen von Bewegungs-, Spiel- und Sportangeboten in offenen Ganztagsgrundschulen bezogen. In einer qualitativen Untersuchung konnten spezifische Rahmenbedingungen und konkrete ‚Orte‘ der Partizipationsförderung identifiziert werden. Die empirischen Ergebnisse beschreiben ein breites, situationsbezogenes Spektrum der Partizipationsförderung zwischen Fremd-, Mit- und Selbstbestimmung.
