Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2018 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Nachkriegszeit, Kalter Krieg, Note: 2,0, Universität Münster, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nach der Gründung der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik (DDR) am 07. Oktober 1949 versuchte die Politik mit allen Mitteln, die DDR als eigenständigen, akzeptierten Staat zu beweisen. Wie hängt das allerdings mit Sport zusammen? Kann Sport wirklich zur innenpolitischen Stabilität und außenpolitischen Anerkennung beitragen? Die Absicht aus Sport Profit für die Akzeptanz des Staates zu gewinnen, verlangt zwangsweise eine gut strukturierte Planung. In meiner Arbeit gilt es zu analysieren, ob die Sportpolitik der DDR wirklich so gut geplant und inszeniert war, dass sich die Bevölkerung und die Außenwelt von ihr in Hinblick auf das politische System positiv beeinflussen ließen. Am Anfang ist es wichtig, sich mit den ideologischen Grundlagen der DDR-Politik auseinanderzusetzen, damit deutlich wird, was für ein politisches System die Politik mit der Inszenierung des Sports legitimieren wollte. Schon in der Gründungsphase der demokratischen Republik legte Walter Ulbricht, der wohl mächtigste Politiker der Anfangsjahre in der DDR, großen Wert auf die Sportpolitik. Um explizit in das Thema einzusteigen, beschäftige ich mich im dritten Kapitel mit der konkreten Umsetzung der Sportpolitik in der DDR. Dabei gilt es, zuerst einen Blick auf die Vorstellungen und Erwartungen des Regimes bezüglich des Sports zu werfen, um sich danach speziell mit der Umsetzung zu beschäftigen. Hierbei lege ich den Fokus auf die Beeinflussung der damaligen Medien und die Erziehung der international bekannten Sportler der DDR. Das vierte Kapitel soll einen resümierenden Charakter besitzen. Haben sich die Erwartungen der DDR-Politik in Bezug auf die Sportpolitik wirklich erfüllt? Anhand der Akzeptanz der DDR-Bürger für den Sport und die Wahrnehmung anderer Länder auf die DDR soll diese Frage beantwortet werden. Meine Arbeit wird schließlich eingerahmt durch den Vergleich der Sportpolitik der DDR zu den Olympischen Spielen 1936 in Deutschland. Dabei sollen besonders die Gemeinsamkeiten der Inszenierung des Sports herausgearbeitet werden.

Dieses Buch zeichnet den Aufstieg der psychologischen Kriegsführung zum neben Diplomatie, Wirtschaft und Militär gleichberechtigten Mittel der amerikanischen Außenpolitik nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg nach. Der Schwerpunkt der Untersuchung liegt dabei nicht auf der "physischen Sabotage", sondern auf den "schönen Hymnen", das heißt auf der offiziellen auswärtigen Informationspolitik. Sie wurde in Form des Auslandsrundfunks unter den Präsidenten Eisenhower und Kennedy zum Hauptträger der amerikanischen Außenpolitik gegenüber denjenigen Staaten ausgebaut, deren Regierungen die USA diplomatisch nicht anerkannten: also gegenüber den Satellitenstaaten der Sowjetunion. Die Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, Radio Liberty und der RIAS Berlin bildeten zusammen das Instrumentarium einer bewußt eingesetzten Rundfunkpolitik. Anhand des RIAS untersucht die Autorin, wie die auswärtige Informationspolitik der USA in der täglichen Praxis aussah: Welche politischen Ziele verfolgten die USA gegenüber der DDR, und wie sollte der RIAS sie fördern? Da der Sender mit einer deutschen Belegschaft arbeitete und sich selbst nicht als amerikanische Rundfunkanstalt verstand, wird ein besonderes Augenmerk auf seine institutionelle, finanzielle und personelle Anbindung an die amerikanische Außenpolitik gerichtet: Wie war der RIAS in den außenpolitischen Apparat der USA integriert?
