Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Linguistik, Note: 1.0, Universität Hamburg (Institut für Germanistik), Veranstaltung: Seminar II: Ikonographisierung und Narrativierung von Zeitgeschichte, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird sich exemplarisch mit unterschiedlichen Benennungen oder Benennungsstrategien im Umgang mit Terrorismus in der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung und dem Spiegel befasst. Dabei wird davon ausgegangen, dass diese Medien sich in ihrer Darstellungsweise und der sprachlichen Verarbeitung von Terrorismus unterscheiden. Dies ist hier die zentrale Vorannahme. So wird es in dieser Arbeit darum gehen, unterschiedliche Bezeichnungen für eine terroristische Vereinigung, im untersuchten Fall für die Rote Armee Fraktion (RAF), gegenüberzustellen und sprachliche Bilder bzw. Metaphern, durch die diese Gruppe beschrieben wird, zu vergleichen. Dabei soll deutlich gemacht werden, dass unterschiedlichen Konnotationen an unterschiedliche Bezeichnungen gebunden sind. Dabei geht es nicht darum, ob die jeweils gewählten Beschreibungen die RAF oder die Ereignisse in deren Zusammenhang realistisch darstellen, oder eine Verzerrung der Realität bedeuten. Es sollen vielmehr unterschiedliche Angebote von Wirklichkeitskonstruktionen und Deutungsmustern in Bezug auf Terrorismus verglichen werden, die sich in der FAZ und dem Spiegel anhand lexikalischer Untersuchungen finden lassen. Nach einer Darstellung theoretischer Überlegungen aus dem Bereich der Wortsemantik, wird die konstruktivistische Perspektive dieser Arbeit aufgezeigt. Anschließend werden Metapherntheorien erläutert, die zur Analyse der Medieninhalte herangezogen werden. Außerdem wird ein Katalog von Bezeichnungen begründet, mit dem sich in der Analyse auseinandergesetzt wird. Imagining Far-right Terrorism explores far-right terrorism as an object of the narrative imagination in contemporary Western Europe. Western European societies are generally reluctant to think of far-right and racist violence as terrorism, but the reasons for this remain little understood. This book focuses on the extraordinarily complex case of the National Socialist Underground (NSU) in Germany, and high-profile instances of racist violence in Sweden and Norway. The author analyses the narratives surrounding far-right and racist violence, drawing on a broad range of empirical sources. Her account attributes the limits of imagining violence as far-right terrorism to elite practices of narrative control that maintain positive images of the liberal-democratic order in counterpoint to its two constitutive "others" – the far-right and racialised minorities. Situated broadly within the scholarly tradition of critical terrorism studies, the book breaks new ground in research on far-right terrorism by following its narrative traces across time, public spaces of contestation, and national borders. It also draws on material and findings originally written in German, Swedish, and Norwegian, which were previously not available in English.
