Fachhochschule Landshut, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Woher stammt das Bild von Drogenkonsumierenden als soziales Problem und welche politische Funktion kommt der daraus folgenden Stigmatisierung zu? Welche Rolle nehmen die Institutionen der Drogenhilfe in der Sozialen Arbeit dabei selbst ein und wie kann sie dieser Entwicklung nicht nur entgegentreten, sondern die Situation konsumwilliger Menschen verbessern? Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, zu skizzieren, inwieweit die bestehende prohibitive Drogenpolitik der Bundesrepublik Deutschland Stigmatisierungsprozesse mitbefördert und welche Rolle die Soziale Arbeit hierbei einnimmt oder einnehmen könnte, wenn sie sich im Rahmen ihrer Möglichkeiten positioniert. Hierzu soll im ersten Teil zunächst der Begriff der Droge und des Drogenkonsums in all seinen Formen als soziales Konstrukt verstanden und einzelne Entstehungsmodelle, Substanzklassen und Gebrauchsformen vorgestellt werden. Es ist mir wichtig, die Komplexität und Ausprägungsvielfalt dieses in der öffentlichen Debatte oftmals stark vereinfacht und verkürzt dargestellten Phänomens zu verdeutlichen. Betont werden soll dabei insbesondere die starke Diskrepanz zwischen Vorurteil und Realität sowie die Tatsache, dass es nicht die Droge und nicht den*die Drogenkonsumenten*in gibt, sondern wir es mit einem heterogenen Sachverhalt zu tun haben. Danach soll sich mit der Frage der Stigmatisierungsprozesse auseinandergesetzt werden, wobei Goffmans Werke zu diesem Themenkomplex das Fundament darstellen sollen. Um verstehen zu können, wo die Sicht auf Drogenkonsum und die Konsumierenden selbst als zu bekämpfendes „Problem“ sowie Sucht als Stigma ihren Ursprung haben, ist es deswegen auch äußerst wichtig, einen Blick auf die Geschichte zu werfen. Mittels der Kampagnen gegen den Gebrauch von Opium, Cannabis und LSD in den USA des 20. Jahrhunderts soll aufgezeigt werden, wie Drogenverbote und die Marginalisierung von Minderheiten Hand in Hand miteinander gehen und die Konstruktion von Drogenkonsum als soziales Problem sich dazu eignet, Kontrolle und Herrschaft demonstrieren und die eigene Machtposition stabilisieren zu können. Der erste Teil der Arbeit schließt mit einem Zwischenfazit über die Beziehung von Stigmatisierung, Stereotypen und repressiver Drogenpolitik ab. [...]

There is evidence that a distinct pattern of alcohol consumption is emerging across the world and is a cause for concern because of its relationship with a range of health and social problems. This book examines the rapid and heavy drinking behavior by young people, described in a number of countries, positioning it within its appropriate social, historical and cultural contexts. The industrial societies of the early 20th century produced standardized products, cities, subjects and organizations which tended to look the same, but in our late-modern societies, we value the exceptional - unique objects, experiences, places, individuals, events and communities which are beyond the ordinary and which claim a certain authenticity. Industrial society’s logic of the general has been replaced by late modernity’s logic of the particular. The transformation from industrial to cultural capitalism, the rise of digital technologies and their ‘culture machine’ and the emergence of an educated, urban new middle class form a powerful engine for the singularization of the social. In late modernity, what is singular is valorized and stirs the emotions, while what is general has to remain in the background, and this has profound social consequences. The society of singularities systematically produces devaluation and inequality: winner-takes-all markets, job polarization, the neglect of rural regions and the alienation of the traditional middle class.
