Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Methoden und Forschungslogik, Note: 1,3, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Jede Wissenschaft besteht im Prinzip, trotz unterschiedlicher Erkenntnisinteressen, aus zwei Bereichen: den Theorien und den adäquaten Methoden, mit denen gesicherte und nachweisbare Ergebnisse erzielt werden. Mit Hilfe von Methoden der Datenerhebung versuchen Wissenschaftler, ihre theoretischen Befunde und Überlegungen zu begründen und zu überprüfen. Dabei hat jede Wissenschaft ihr eigenes Inventar von Methoden. Die am häufigsten eingesetzten Methoden in der Kommunikationswissenschaft sind Inhaltsanalyse, Beobachtung und Befragung. In den empirischen Sozialwissenschaften ist die Befragung die am häufigsten angewandte Methode zur Datenerhebung. Man schätzt, dass ungefähr 90% aller Daten mit dieser Methode gewonnen werden (Vgl. Bortz/Döring 1995: 216). Zugleich ist die Befragung auch das am weitesten entwickelte Instrument zur Datenerhebung (vgl. Kromrey 1998: 335). Diese Seminararbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Methode der Befragung, da diese für uns Kommunikationswissenschaftler zum grundlegenden Handwerkszeug wissenschaftlicher Arbeit gehört. Daher ist es wichtig, die Ziele, Motive, Varianten, sowie Stärken und Schwächen dieses Instruments zu kennen. Die Hausarbeit gliedert sich in fünf Punkte. Nach der Einleitung folgt in Punkt zwei eine Abgrenzung der Methode der Befragung. Dazu wird der Begriff der Befragung definiert, die gängigsten Befragungsmodi vorgestellt und eine Klassifizierung anhand von Standardisierungsgraden vorgenommen. Die Vorgehensweise bei der Befragung, Grundsätze der Frageformulierung, Frageformen und der Aufbau von Fragebögen sind Thema des dritten Abschnitts. Die methodischen Probleme bei der Befragung werden in Punkt vier behandelt. Schwerpunktmäßig werden hier die verschiedenen Störeinflüsse bei der Datenerhebung erläutert. Zum Abschluss dieser Arbeit wird in Punkt fünf ein Fazit gezogen.
