Seit April 2012 beschäftigt sich an der Universität Mainz im Fach Kulturanthropologie/Volkskunde ein Forschungsprojekt mit eben jenem Kulturphänomen des Heilens und seinen Funktionen im Alltag. Die Untersuchungen fokussieren dabei vor allem Gebiete der deutschen und der benachbarten belgischen Eifel. Mit dem Ziel eines interdisziplinären Dialoges fand im September 2013 in Mainz eine Tagung statt, die sich mit heterodoxen Phänomenen des Heilens auseinandersetzte. Im Zentrum der Tagung stand der Mensch auf der Suche nach Heil und Heilung. Dieser Band versammelt die Beiträge der Tagung und liefert interdisziplinäre Blickweisen aus Kulturanthropologie, Geschichts-, Psychotherapie-, Kultur- und Literaturwissenschaften, der Medizingeschichte sowie der Ethnologie.
