The culture of burial and mourning is presently in a state of flux. The idea of using the cremated remains of loved ones to form jewelry no longer belongs to the realm of science fiction but has become a fact of modern life. Today, many countries are open to allowing the ashes of the dead to be turned into ornamental objects. Technically, this produces remembrance artifacts representing the dead. The new aspect is that the mortal remains continue to exist after death in the form of such an artifact, for which previous burial culture has no precedent. How do such "ash diamonds" figure into the mourning process? How do relatives deal with this phenomenon? What is the role of esthetics? How does the social environment react to this "metamorphosis"? And does this represent the renewal of the idea of relics? This book is based on interviews held with persons who decided to go this route of remembering their deceased loved ones. The authors also visited the production facilities of these precious stones, talked with experts about the process, and attended the delivery rituals. In addition to practical, theological, and sociological assessments, the volume includes case studies that provide a forum for those concerned to voice their opinions.

The incursion of evil has always caused people to turn to the divine, to gods or to a god, in order to reorientate their life. Ingolf U. Dalferth studies the complexity of this procedure in three thought processes that deal with the central concepts in the Christian understanding of malum as privation (a lack of good), as evil-doing, and as a lack of faith. In doing so, he provides a detailed discussion of theories of theodicy, the argument from freedom, and the religious turn to God, in which the author explores the traces of the discovery of God’s goodness, justness, and love in connection with the malum experiences in ancient mythology and biblical traditions.

Gottes Verk Rpertes Ebenbild written by Gregor Etzelmüller and has been published by Mohr Siebeck this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-02 with Religion categories.

Gottesgedanke Mensch written by Johannes von Lüpke and has been published by Evangelische Verlagsanstalt this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-04-01 with Religion categories.

[The Human Person as God's Thought. Anthropology in Theological Perspective] "What is man"? Theological answers to this basic question of philosophy and anthropology have to consider that God is "mindful of him" (Psalm 8,4). As a thought of God the human person is essentially a creature of language, called and challenged to a response. Being free, he has to realize, as image of God, his vocation to be human. The present studies on a theological anthropology refer to basic biblical texts and are inspired and guided by Luther's anthropological views. This leads to answers to current controversial issues for instance regarding the questions of the beginning and end of life, the relation between body and soul, language and mind and the conception of freedom. The central focus is on a reflection of the heart as seat of the spiritual virtues of faith, love and hope.
