Er hat als Physiker an der technischen Hoch schule und an der Universitat in Turin studiert und spater mit einigen J uhren Unterbrechung, wahrend deren er an die Turiner Universitat berufen war, seine Hauptlehrthatigkeit an dem Reale Museo Industriale Italiano zu Turin entfaltet indem er die bis dahin hauptsachlich auf die wissen schaflzliche Physik an gewandten Gesetze der Elektrizitatslehre in ihrer Anwendung auf die technische Physik weiter bildete und nutzbar machte. Sein Verdienst war es auch dass im J ahre 1886 die Elektrotechnische Ingenieurschule zu Turin, die erste Lehranstalt dieser Art in Italien, er stand.
