“A detailed, eye-opening account of the real sexual underground in America . . . a thorough and serious study.”—Playboy From Different Loving: In order to understand unusual sexualities such as dominance and submission, one first has to consider the question ‘What is normal?‘ If the unique function of sex is reproductive—and the only reason men and women should engage in sex is for the purpose of creating a new life—then only heterosexual intercourse is normal. By this standard, many common acts, even contraception, must be considered aberrant. Reproductive relevance was the Victorian standard of normalcy, and even today many of the laws in the United States still abide by that model. But people have always pursued sex for both reproduction and for pleasure and well-being. We start from the premise that sex for pleasure is a normal human drive and is acceptable when it brings pleasure to both partners. From this perspective, D&S is simply a ‘different‘ kind of loving. We hope to add to the greater body of knowledge about what people really do behind closed doors with the people they most love and trust. Perhaps Different Loving will help open the door for further research into the mystery, beauty, and complexity of human life and its diverse expressions. Praise for Different Loving “The definitive guide to the sexual styles of those who walk on the wild side.”—Kirkus Reviews “As a window on largely unexplored territory, Different Loving is a breakthrough in the dialogue on human sexuality, and a significant work of popular sociology.”—South Bend Tribune “A comprehensive primer on loving with leather and romance by riding crop.”—Michael Musto, New York Daily News

A Different Kind Of Love Story written by Landra Young Hughes and has been published by Baker Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-04 with Religion categories.

In this book, you're going to read about a different kind of love story. It's a love story each and every one of us is currently playing a role in--whether we're aware of it or not. And truth be told, it's scary-critical that we stay tuned-in to this love story. Because outside of a growing relationship with your heavenly Father, no other love (or lack of love) has the potential to improve or implode your life like the love that you have for you. For anyone who has ever struggled with their identity, Landra Young Hughes has a radically simple message: give up. Specifically, give up your need to be in control of how other people see you. Instead, let God's words--not yours and not others'--define you. Through her own deeply personal story of trying to control her circumstances and others' perceptions of her through an eating disorder, Landra points the way toward a life free from self-obsession and self-resentment. She shows you how to listen to God's voice, let go of the struggle for perfection, and live authentically from your deepest self.

The instant Sunday Times top ten bestseller A Guardian Book of the Year An Evening Standard Book of the Year An Independent Book of the Year Netgalley's non-fiction Book of the Year A national treasure's journey to the brink and back. 'Will I wake up?' 'There's a 50:50 chance.' Michael Rosen wasn't feeling well. Soon he was struggling to breathe, and then he was admitted to hospital, suffering from coronavirus as the nation teetered on the edge of a global pandemic. What followed was months on the wards: six weeks in an induced coma, and many more weeks of rehab and recovery as the NHS saved Michael's life, and then got him back on his feet. Throughout Michael's stay in intensive care, a notebook lay at the end of his bed, where the nurses who cared for him wrote letters of hope and support. Embarking on the long road to recovery, Michael was soon ready to start writing about his near-death experience. Combining stunning new prose poems by one of Britain's best loved poets and the moving coronavirus diaries of his nurses, doctors and wife Emma-Louise Williams, this is a beautiful book about love, life and the NHS. Featuring original illustrations by Chris Riddell, each page celebrates the power of community, the importance of kind gestures in dark times, and the indomitable spirits of the people who keep us well.

Different Visions Of Love written by Brian Griffith and has been published by Brian Griffith this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Religion categories.

Griffiths narrative moves like a searchlight over each phase of church history, illuminating the visions, options, and choices behind events. He traces the rise of a dominator version of Christianity, in which the primary concern was a chain of command to be followed, with rewards or punishments according to the degree of obedience. And beside this he illuminates another face of Christianity, concerned with healing all divisions between loved and unloved people. The story Griffith presents is often deeply disturbing, as in his unstinting accounts concerning the gospel for women , or the age of holy wars and witch hunts. But ultimately his story offers solid grounds for optimism. He shows that all contention between different religious visions can be a process of building partnership. As Griffith points out, Jesus himself wished to debate his opponents openly, not to silence or eliminate them. He was not afraid of real encounter, or the potential of creative conflict.I want to congratulate Brian Griffith on this masterful, controversial, and highly readable account. His book offers hope in a divided world, where reaction against globalized godless corporate secularism meets with a war on religious fundamentalism . I hope to see other writers do comparable work in highlighting the partnership and dominator visions within their religious traditions around the world. Riane Eisler, author of The Chalice & the Blade, Sacred Pleasure, Tomorrows Children, The Power of Partnership, The Real Wealth of Nations"I find it gives me an incredibly clarifying perspective on Christianity way beyond my previous understanding. It should be read by everyone with an interest in Western Civilization. It is a marvelous companion to The Great Turning." David Korten, author of The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community

Why speak about love in all its facets? Love is a diamond—we cannot fathom its depths. By a combination of all its facets, we hope to reach a vision of true love. I realize that all people are looking for love so they can say life is beautiful. Love appears in different forms, different versions, different ages, and different cultures. It is present everywhere, but transparent, like wind and water. Could it be an element of nature that feeds us daily? Everybody knows that when we fall in love, we just need fresh water to survive. Love is the word we use the most to express a feeling of satisfaction. We use it more to express our personal sensations than those inspired in somebody else. This is not our fault; we are taught growing up to hide our feelings and say things halfway, so as not to shock. That’s what it means to live in community. Society attempts to control people who have chosen to live inside it—to control love—by imposing rules that restrict behavior. Sex is one of its priorities. In the olden days, homosexuality was a normal sexual behavior; it was tolerated. At the time of Kings, incest was accepted. Each period imposes sexual taboos, and as a consequence, nowadays we live with so many taboos we don’t understand them in depth. To my mind, taboos are designed to manage the general interest and safeguard society. I also think that they have to arise themselves from a loving sentiment.
