Jedes ärztliches Handeln bei chronischen Kopf-, Gesichts- und Kieferschmerzen zielt zunächst auf das Ausschalten von Symptomen. Die Regulationsmedizin bietet hingegen neben der Differenzialdiagnostik der Schmerzen weitere kontext-abhängige Möglichkeiten ganzheitlicher Untersuchung und Versorgung. In diesem Rahmen kommt dem Arzt für Dentale und Orale Medizin, dem Zahnarzt, eine durch seine berufliche Stammkompetenz gegebene zentrale Rolle zu.
